It hasn't let him down before, so he stands by the reasoning. He'll stand up for anyone, and battle for what he thinks is right. Though, he does run away from people who need emotional help. Emotions never really were his high-point, so he tends to escape them. It's not that he's without them, he just doesn't like acknowledging those of others'. For instance, if someone were crying in the corridors, he'd simply walk past them, looking down at the ground. Sure, he's also a tad awkward because of this, but he isn't bothered by it. It also doesn't help that his attention span is that of a goldfish, or a fly. He's easily distracted and can be easily interrupted. It's no wonder he wasn't sorted into Ravenclaw...

( HISTORY ) : It was a snowy night in the outskirts of London. The Christmas tree was lit with beautiful strings of lights and decorated with ornaments of every type. A star atop it, it was the perfect seasonal atmosphere. It was accompanied by two big stockings on the mantle above the fireplace, and one little stocking beside them. All of the sudden, Jenine's water broke and she went into labor. They didn't have time to make it to the hospital, so Alexander had to deliver their new child. Luckily, it all turned out fine, and they had a son who they named Gideon Arthur.

Growing up, Gideon was so light-hearted. He always had a huge smile on his face and was always running all over the place with his friends. They lived in a friendly neighborhood, where everyone knew everyone. So, naturally, Gideon was never alone. Jenine's cancer spread when she was around 33, and eventually conquered her life at 35. It was devastating to Gideon to lose someone so dear to him. After all, she was the one who watched after him and kept him going during the day. She was his pick-me-up and he always loved seeing her smiling and happy face. It hadn't ever occurred to him that she had cancer. No one ever told him.

Never really getting over that, he still visits her grave often on holidays. Christmas was always her favourite season, so Gideon puts a bouqet of flowers on her grave on Christmas Day every year with his father. His father was never home, so they had to hire a housekeeper. The housekeeper was a witch, so Gideon could practice his magic whenever he wished. Of course, he didn't control the magic he used or anything because he was just discovering he had the powers at about 9, but he did enjoy them when they came around. He got his letter when he was 11, almost 12 because of his late birthday, and was sent to Hogwarts by his father. Alexander was always guilt-ridden because he wasn't home with his son enough, but now he knew Gideon would be at school with plenty of friends.

They went to Diagon Alley and got his supplies, then Alexander sent him off on the express to Hogwarts. After the boat ride to the school, Gideon couldn't believe his eyes. The school was huge. The school he'd gone to beforehand was so small, Hogwarts could have eaten it. Even then, he was a handful. Upon arriving, Gideon got lost because he went off on his own little adventure, and was the last to get sorted because of it. He was sorted into Gryffindor, obviously, and went on to become what he is today. The same little kid, but with a heighth difference.
