EMMELINE STEPHANIE VANCE
I KNOW IT'S HARD
TO BE STUCK WITH
PEOPLE THAT YOU LOVE
WHEN NOBODY TRUSTS

[/color] She said, feeling her nose and getting to her feet. "I'm just gonna go, clean this up." She indicated the drying blood covering her face and the front of her robes and headed down the hallway towards the cubicle of someone who she was sure wouldn't mind helping her clean up dried blood. "Hey Alice," She said, poking her head into her best friend's cubicle, she knew that covered in dried blood she looked pretty bad, but other than the newly mended broken nose she was fine. "Can you help me clean up some blood, it's hard to siphon it off myself without risking poking myself in the eye."No one ever said being an Auror was easy, and it was living up to that. Emmeline was out chasing down dark wizards more than three quarters of her time, and when she wasn't out she felt like she should be because as long as she was sitting around, or eating, or sleeping, bad things were happening to people because of it. She always felt like she needed to be doing something, which is where the Order of the Phoenix came in.
Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, Order of Merlin First Class, and, in many people's minds, the greatest wizard that had ever lived, had approached Emmeline just after her graduation. He had quietly explained the Order of the Phoenix to her, and then asked if she wanted to join. He had told her he would understand if she didn't, because it was going to be dangerous, and not everyone was guaranteed to come out of it alive. Emmeline had told him, without even having to stop and think about it for a moment, that she was in. She had already been accepted into Auror training, so she knew her job was going to be dangerous anyway, and why not just tack some more danger on?
In these times everyone needed a little sign hanging around there neck that said, 'I'm high risk, come and get me.' Emmeline's sign was flashing neon lights with a giant arrow pointing right at her, it probably read something like, 'Muggleborn! Get her! Auror! Get her! Order of the Phoenix! Get her!'
So yes, things were dangerous, no one trusted anyone. Families and friends had been forced to develop codes to prove that the people who looked like their loved ones was actually them and not an imposter or under the Imperius Curse. Emmeline found the code words useless, if a Death Eater were to impersonate someone important enough, they would force that information out of them in ten seconds, tops. So instead of using code words, she had taken to keeping her hand in her pocket, holding onto her wand, ready to pull it out and counter-attack at any moment.
However, at the moment the eighteen year old was being held up by another Auror, as they made their way up towards the Auror office. Her nose was crooked and bleeding profusely, and had been for the past twenty, maybe thirty minutes, which was why she was so lightheaded and couldn't walk without help, she was loosing a lot of blood for just a nosebleed.
Once in the Auror office they knew they were surrounded by people who were not about to freak out and scream that there was an attack going on just outside the Ministry. The Aurors were used to dealing with minor injuries, even broken noses were no problem. Emmeline was led to and forced to sit in a chair. She was then told to keep her head high as a senior Auror pointed their wand at her nose and said, "Episkey." There was a cracking sound as Emmeline's nose realigned itself, and the bleeding stopped instantly.
"Thanks,"
