Sharlan sat staring at the wooden before her. Frank was attempting to hide it from his fellow Gryffindors again. He ran into her on his way to…well she wasn’t quite sure where he was going. He looked panicked and asked if she would hide it. Sharlan accepted because, she was Sharlan. The guitar, it was a god like instrument. And god like people played them, she knew a few. Frank and Kirley were at the top of her list, but anyone that played the magical instrument was looked up to by Sharlan. She remembered begging Frank to help her learn how to play it, but he he replied that her pinky was not long enough to reach a major chord. How dare he accuse her pinky? Sharlan sat cross legged staring at this piece of wood that was capable of so much before her. She didn’t want to be questioned with the guitar, because she was an awful liar. Where would she go that no one dared to go? It was an easy enough of an answer. Sharlan had dragged her combat boots all the way out to the whomping willow. She had set the guitar in front of her wondering what now to do with herself. She was pretty certain that Frank wouldn’t come back for it, she would have to leave it in the tower again. She sighed, digging in her bag to find her tarot cards.
Sharlan ran a hand across the gold crescent hanging around her neck, slowly blowing a strand of loose hair from her face. She was having a pretty good day, black out wise. Thoth decided to take it easy on her, for now. She never wanted to get cocky, Thoth was a god afterall, a very powerful god. And the second Sharlan questioned him she’d be laying on her back, blacked out for the rest of her journey. Sharlan had only just escaped potions to change quickly to run into Frank. At least she had the opportunity to change. She had her favorite red leather jacket on because the chill was quite evident now. The gloves were just part of Sharlan’s personality, what could she say? She loved what she loved and hardly cared what other people thought about her. Well perhaps that was a bit overdone, but when you blacked out most of your school career you really couldn’t care what other people thought to much or you’d have gone crazy by now. Sharlan sorted the cards setting them up in a game almost like fashion. She flipped over the first card, her eyes shut tightly.
Hazel eyes opened slowly to The Addict card. It held a symbol of the guitar. She smiled, staring back up to the acoustic beauty before her. What could she say? Her cards just knew everything. Now if she pulled the card of the two cups of hearts she would start laughing. She shook her head trying to refocus. She let a hand hover over the deck attempting to sense whether or not it was the moment to pull the card. Finally giving in, she pulled the card lying it next to The Addict. The magician. That silly booger was haunting her lately. A fatal error? No one wanted to hear their future held a future error. Perhaps she was getting rusty? Her aunt would be so disappointed. Sharlan could blame the black outs, and the pain on her right wrist, but perhaps her aunt would get even angrier. Sometimes she wished she could just ask her Aunt why she did the things she did. Sharlan heard something from behind her, she slowly paused listening. Before looking, she pulled the next card to answer her question. The question of who was behind her. She pulled the Magdelen card. The Magdelen card was a person of many interesting features. As the cards spoke, Sharlan decided it was in fact a friend coming to greet her. She simply looked back down to the cards, what in Merlin’s name were they out here for? “Ello,” Sharlan stated with her back to the person. Ah, card games. They were so much fun.

poor kirley, he had nothing to do. nothing. if he went out to the courtyards someone would be there to beat him up, slytherins would be in the great hall to hex him, kirley wasn't even sure if he was safe to take a trip to the restroom. granted, he'd been at hogwarts for six years now and not every day he was thrown into the closest closet, but lately it felt like things were getting worse. maybe it was because myron was going around placing 'want to join a potentially famous unnamed band?' everywhere. not that kirley really minded, he wanted to make a band, it was just painfully getting his face slammed into the poster. "argghhhhhhhhhhhhhh" mr duke rolled off his bed and flopped onto the wooden floor. and then it hit him, literally, he should go to the whopping willow. no one would be there, he could go outside, and enjoy the simple peace that has escaped him for the most part of the year. quickly he got up from the ground, threw on a t-shirt with a vest, his favorite hat, a cool pair of shades, and jeans (because walking out with just boxers would be embarrassing) and headed out of hufflepuffs common room.
the first thing he noticed was sharlan facing away from him, a perfect target for a tackle. quietly kirls made his way toward the girl, just inching his way closer... until she spoke. kirley froze in his spot. it was like a storm rolled in and a lighting blot just decided to attack him before rolling away with out anyone noticed. "you know how freaky that is, dippet?" kirley hissed walking closer to his fellow hufflepuff. in truth kirls wasnt that freaked out. he'd spent many hours hanging out with sharlan and knew that whenever he was around her something that could be explain was bound to happen. nowadays he just acted like it was nothing and responded to her just like she was anyone of his friends. he remembered the the first time myron introduced him to dips, it was possibly one of the scariest moments of his life and all he could do is stare at her, his eyes the size of plates ready to fall out of their sockets. "all i want to do is come and hang out with you, dips, and then you go and scare the living shi- IS THAT A GUITAR?" the male wasted no time picking up the instrument from the grass. it was given knowledge that miss sharlan dippet loved, loved, loved her tarot cards and with that same intensity of love, kirley loved guitars. he let out a low whistle as he examined the wood. it was beautiful. if this guitar was a women woah, just woah.
"want me to play you a song?" kirley mumbled looking up at her but still fascinated with the guitar. the problem was sharlan and kirley came from totally different worlds with totally different music. and wizard music was amazing, but it was just nothing like the raw greatness of the muggle music kirley listened to as he grew up. she was probably going to ask him to play a song about frogs or broomsticks and he had no idea what she was talking about. "how about this... truth or dare? truth: you tell me how you got this magnificent creature or dare: you try and play a song" sure thats not how the game really went, but it was something they did. as long as they knew each other the two had taken a fancy to playing games and even with the simplest of things kirley felt like turning it into some sort of game.

Sharlan grinned down at her cards when Kirley mentioned her past moment was ‘freaky’. “I should have known it was you Kirley,” Sharlan replied, she looked back to the magician and addict card. She placed them side by side, then the Magdalen card. Together, the kind friend, that was an addict to music, that came with a troublesome spirit. Kirley. It possibly could have described Myron, but the two were inseparable so it still counted in Sharlan’s book. “I suppose I am sorry for being ‘freaky’,”Sharlan couldn’t help but grin at the next card she pulled. The Fool. She bit down on her lip, the fool on the tarot card hardly represented how incredibly …decent the fool looked. The fool was the card of mistakes and hardships, sometimes even heartbreak.
Sharlan held the Fool card in her hand, turning to look over her shoulder at Kirley. He was wearing that vest again, Sharlan didn’t pay attention to many people’s clothes. Kirley on the other hand had such an interesting taste. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t normal, it was…fantastic. Actually Kirley was just one of those people Sharlan trusted, over the years only a certain few people had made the top of the list of people Sharlan would risk her life for. Mollie and Alice would always remain number one, unfortunately Remus was high on the list as well. Sometimes Sharlan wondered why, he probably wouldn’t notice if she disappeared one day. Right underneath them was Myron, Kirley and Frank. She would do anything for those blokeheads as well. Sharlan flipped the fool card in between her fingers, staring towards the charming red head. To bad she couldn’t reclaim her heart, she had sold a piece of it to Kabalah to persuade her to help Sharlan win Remus’ heart. Apparently she wasn’t worth enough for help yet because Remus hardly glanced her way. If she could take back the moment perhaps she wouldn’t have given her heart away so fast. Or without a strong friendship in between.
Sharlan dropped the fool card when Kirley said he was coming to just hang out when she scared him. She grinned. “Kirley, do I still scare you tha-,” Sharlan paused when Kirley saw Frank’s prized possession. She bit down on his bottom lip. Kirley was adorable, from his buttoned vest to his ginger red hair, to the half smile all the way to the personality deep in his noggin that craved the attention of the guitar. What were the words Sharlan was searching for? Mildly charming? Adorable? No, dangerously sexy. Sharlan never used such words, and it felt strange to think just that about Kirley. And yet, he still had her heart racing without having to do much more then shout about his passion. His music that is. She let out a full laugh when Kirely whistled towards Frank’s guitar. Kirley and Frank would have to meet sometime, they would learn to be best friends. Although, Frank was still scared of what wizards thought of the music industry. Poor Frank, if only he knew such people as Kirley and Myron existed. Perhaps that was her duty? Then again, she was meant to hide the guitar not flaunt it.
Sharlan’s taste in music was strange, it was nor muggle nor wizard. It was completely from another world. Though Frank did so happen to play a few muggle songs every now and again. She didn’t care much for wizard music, unless it was influenced by muggles. Sharlan loved the guitar by itself, she loved listening to it accompanied by other instruments. Most of the time she just enjoyed music weather wizard, muggle, or starshone. “YES!” Sharlan replied perhaps a little to enthusiastically. Would Frank mind? She bet not, he was after all one of the kindest gentlemen she had ever met. “I suppose you wouldn’t be familiar with the starshone I eon musicality practices would you?” Sharlan bit down on her lower lip sighing. “ I do enjoy the Beatles, a friend of mine played. There lyrics are odd, yet intriguing. I am the walrus is just an example. Strange, but intriguing,” Sharlan commented. Kirley was quick to combat asking truth or dare. Oh how he knew she had a soft spot for games. Though the question that followed was difficult. She couldn’t do either. “I’m afraid Kirley….I can’t perform either.” Sharlan rubbed the back of her head. “I am keeping, the guitar safe for a friend, and I cannot play as much as I would love to. Something about inadequate pinky’s,” Sharlan replied holding her hands up, her lips forming a pout.

right away kirley felt bad for saying the things had only said moments earlier. sharlan was a fellow hufflepuff like himself, so she probably got picked on just as much as he did. saying that she was freaky probably didn't help any kind of self-esteem problems or opened up old wounds that kirley didn't know about."Nah, don't be sorry. you know i'm just kiddin' right?" to prove his point the redhead stepped closer to sharlan and then sat down next to her, making sure not to hurt the guitar of course. in front of her were some of her tarot cards all lined up. even though kirley saw them everytime he was around sharlan he still couldn't make heads or tails out of the little pictures and stuff, but then again he wasn't sure if he wanted to. knowing the future kind of scared him, like what if he found out something that he wasn't supposed to and out of the blue these ninja people came out of the woods and took him away. sharlan probably knew how to act in those kind of extreme situations, but with his luck kirley would probably never be seen again."And you don't scare me either, darling. i wouldn't be sitting by you if i didn't like you."
sharlan seemed excited when he had offered a song. but she started spill out stuff about stars and eons which totally lost the boy poor. the best he could respond with was a tilted head and a question look. but then sharlan brought up the beatles and their crazy lyrics and kirley couldn't help but smile. the boy was a big fan of the beatles, come on, who wasn't. "beatles it is then." kirley agreed, starting to strum some chords of lucy had in the sky with diamonds until it accord to him that sharlan probably couldn't pick up the song with just random chords and he'd probably have to sing along. kirley wasn't shy when it came to singing, he'd probably run down the halls with all the students staring at him, the problem was he was horrible at memorizing lyrics. especially with beatles songs were he's listened to so many. in truth the only part of lucy in the sky that he knew perfectly was the part when they go 'LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS'. so he had to stop a few strokes in and begin to play a much soft song. "that was just warming up" he mummbled, trying to justify his actions before he started sining blackbird by the beatles.
"blackbird singing in the dead of night take these broken wings and learn to fly all your life you were only waiting for this moment to arise
blackbird singing in the dead of night take these sunken eyes and learn to see all your life you were only waiting for this moment to be free"
kirley finished singing after the second verse because after the that it was just mainly repeating and he didn't want to bore sharlan with such a sleepy song for much longer."my mum plays them all the time. blackbird became my favorite beatles song" kirley explained as he finished playing, letting the sound of the guitar echo and fade into the nature around them.
"thats not how you play the game, dibbs..." kirley frowned as he placed the guitar on the ground next to him. when sharlan didn't pick truth or dare and instead showed him her hands kirley absentmindedly grabbed one and started examining it. her hands were much softer and smaller then his, as is expected. he had just been playing guitar so much that the strings had made the skin on his fingers hard and unforgiving. plus it would be very concerning if her hand were bigger then his and it would have probably freaked him out. all in all, kirley came to the conclusion that who ever told sharlan that her pinkies were inadequate was right so he let go of her hand. "those are very odd pinkies you have there. maybe i'll get you a ukulele... you know... a mini guitar" granted he had barely anymore and she'd only be able to play songs with a hawaiian theme to them, but hey you had to start somewhere.
"hmm, seeing that you've failed the first round of truth and dare you can pick the next game" of course they could just sit in the grass and talk, it wasn't a bad thing to do and accept in most societies. nevertheless kirley and sharlan's friendship wasn't built on just sitting in the grass and talking, it was built around doing silly little games, having small little adventures and talking. what a shame they weren't sorted into gryffindor, kirley felt like the could add a lot to the house of gold and red.

S harlan nodded when Kirley asked if she knew he was simply kidding. Of course he was, she would have known better. She knew the people that she had to always watch out for, the same ones that made fun of her aunt. The same ones that shoved Myron to the ground and Kirley into walls. The same ones that picked on Peter, they were the ones Sharlan had to watch out for, not Kirley. “Of course Kirley, perhaps one day I will be a ‘freak’ to you, when your band is on it’s way. But not now.” Sharlan replied, a small smile creeping over her features. Myron and Kirley always talked about the band that was going to be the greatest thing of all time. Quite frankly, Sharlan believed that together the two would have no problems forming a band. Well she hoped that anyways. The wizarding world was strange when it came to muggle music, but Myron and Kirley were both very attractive males, that could at least count for something in the industry. Sharlan felt his presence as he sat down next to her. Her heart raced, she could almost feel the heat radiating from him. darling his voice, the moment he said darling the world stopped.
Could Sharlan possibly be feeling the same feeling towards Remus, possibly towards Kirley? That was silly, Kirley was younger, and so so very different from Remus. She sighed through her teeth. Life never made sense to her before, but this was just getting ridiculous. How did one know exactly what love was? Or was meant to feel like? Sharlan couldn’t help but oogle when her music taste lost Kirley. His head tilted and he looked absolutely adorable. What could she saw? She could probably huggle him to death at the moment. Run her hands through his hair and mak- wait. What? Sharlan shook her head, quite shocked that she had even gone that far. Sharlan grinned widely when he replied he would play some beatles. Sharlan started to recognize the tune to one of her favorites. She could picture the marmalade skies. Then Kirley paused, she felt like begging for more when he insisted he was just warming up. Sharlan watched Kirley’s hands ever so gently strum Frank’s guitar. Frank never looked that amazing while strumming. Kirley looked born to do so. That’s when he sang it, another one of Sharlan’s favorites. Black bird.
Merlin help her, the tingles in her toes started running up her legs, into her stomach and up to her neck. From her neck to her lips and she couldn’t help but feel slightly afraid of this feeling. What ever was she going to do? He stopped, Sharlan could almost cry. Why on earth did he ever need to stop? She wanted to continue to listen to his voice, singing amongst the guitar. Her heart ached for more. She studied Kirley as he repeated that it was one of his favorite songs due to his mother singing it all the time. Sharlan nodded slowly. “Yes, I do believe that is one of the two top favorites of mine. If I fell, is the other.” Sharlan replied quietly. Sharlan could only grin when she was accused on not playing the game right. She certainly couldn’t reveal Frank, and darn Merlin didn’t grant her with long enough pinkys. Kirley grabbed her hand and the electric shock by itself could have sent Sharlan into a small black out. She had to bite down on her lip from frightening the younger hufflepuff. Merlin knew the last thing she wanted to do was frighten him again.
He then let go, what was with all this ending? First he sung then stopped, then he took her hand then stopped. He was torturing her without meaning to. How could one face this kind of torture day and night without going crazy? When did these feelings erupt? Had she finally given up on Remus? Had Kirley possibly attempted to fill in the whole that was gaping every year that Sharlan was denied? Sharlan brightened at the thought of a ukulele. She wouldn’t know how to play it, but of course. Sharlan loved music, she hardly cared if it was a mini anything as long as she got to play something as beautiful as Kirley had. Sharlan thought over the option Kirley had given her, to another game. She liked the truth and dare game the best. How could she get Kirley to play again, yet with a different question. Sharlan looked at his hand, she took the hand that was previously in hers and placed it between both of hers. She turned one hand over to examine the lines on his hand. She traced a line gently with her finger. “Hesitation,” Sharlan replied quietly. She squinted her eyes once to stare at another line. “Despair,” Sharlan replied once more.
“Annoyance,” Sharlan opened her eyes to look at Kirley. His hands in hers made the world seem okay for once in her life. She felt like no one could make fun of them as long as Sharlan held his hands in hers. She laughed quietly. “That’s my game, perhaps we should stick to truth and dare, so I don’t ‘freak’ you out,” Sharlan replied with a smirk. “Pick another truth or dare, I’ll be sure to answer this one as long as it doesn’t deal with the mystery person behind the guitar.” Sharlan replied with a small wink.
