i don’t believe that anybody - - - - - - feels the way i do about you now
, Oh, owls. Felix had encountered quite a few stubborn owls in his life, but fortunately, Michelle’s owl, which he had seen so often during her Hogwarts year after he graduated, was a pretty likable bird. He had only been bit once, and that was when he’d kept the owl waiting for several hours because he couldn’t figure out what to reply to a letter. Really, though, he had always found owls to be a bit obnoxious. Practical for delivering letters, yes, but still annoyingly loud and extremely headstrong and stubborn. He supposed many of them resembled him a bit in that respect. Still, if there was a better way to communicate with someone, he preferred that alternate method. ”It does,” he replied truthfully when Adison mentioned Michelle again. If Michelle had been in a more traditionally dangerous line of work, he would probably worry just as much about her every day as their parents and older sister had when he told them what he wanted to do with his life. He was certainly glad she had chosen to become a healer. There were risks to that as well, of course, but he hadn’t heard about her getting into any trouble as of yet. Then again, chances were she wouldn’t tell him because she knew he’d get overprotective. As always. Trouble? No, he wasn’t intending to get her into any trouble, and he couldn’t imagine Michelle being upset with anyone for telling him that. She’d probably just be annoyed that he brought it up and they’d have a playful argument about it. Adison’s next comment caused his eyebrows to furrow slightly, though, and he tilted his head slightly as he looked at her. ”I wouldn’t think you’d have a lot of enemies,” he said honestly. How anyone could hate her was beyond him. Sure, she had been a little rude to him to start with, but he could understand why someone would be stressed when having to deal with a new patient late at night. He wouldn’t be in the best mood if he suddenly received an assignment when he’d rather be at home sleeping either, and that did happen a bit too often, so he knew pretty well how it felt. So no, that couldn’t be why people disliked her. Was it the whole being head healer at such a young age thing, then? Probably. A lot of people were jealous like that by nature. He suspected he’d have some problems dealing with the reactions of the older aurors if he was appointed head auror at his age, for instance, and healers probably weren’t a whole lot nicer to each other than aurors when it came to things like that. He resisted the temptation to chuckle as he was told he was sweet, remembering how painful that had been last time. Was sweet a good thing to be, though? He wasn’t really sure. It was the kind of word he associated with things like… puppies. He liked dogs, sure (heck, his animagus form was a Golden Retriever, so of course he liked them), but he still wouldn’t want to be associated with them in that kind of way. As long as she didn’t tell him he was being cheesy or something like that, though, he just had to live in the belief that he was making a good impression, because he had a feeling that she would tell him if she disapproved. At least he hoped she would. He didn’t want to make her uncomfortable in any way, and certainly not so much so that she felt the need to lie. On the other hand, if she did find him annoying, she could always just sedate him and be done with it, leaving him for another healer to deal with the next day. That was not a thought he liked at all. He really, genuinely enjoyed talking to her, and he couldn’t complain about looking at her either. Okay, he needed to stop thinking like that. She was a healer, a professional, not someone he was finding more and more ridiculously attractive by the second. ”You don’t need to apologize for helping me, you know,” smiling his crooked smile again. No, he wasn’t thrilled about this whole thing, but she was doing the best she could and he was grateful for it. Still, there was something extremely endearing about her caring about what he wanted, not just what he needed. From what he’d heard from Michelle, taking patients’ every complaint into consideration was not in the job description, so he took this as a sign that Adison didn’t mind him. That, he approved of, since he obviously liked her as well. Therefore, an expression of concern appeared on his face as he watched her fingers touch the poison as well, once again feeling a bit guilty that she should suffer any kind of pain because of him. It’s her job, he reminded himself, trying to ignore the sudden cold he felt when the cotton swab touched his skin because this had to be more uncomfortable for her right now. After all, he was on a whole lot of medicine right now and didn’t feel any pain, while her skin was exposed to the poison that had been causing him all that pain. Was there really no better way to deal with this? He decided not to ask, reminding himself for the umpteenth time that she knew best and that she probably wouldn’t be thrilled to have him questioning her. He looked up in surprise as she said she took back her first statement. His initial thought was that she was just teasing again, but she soon confirmed that she was, in fact, not. ”I am as well,” he replied. ”I wouldn’t want to fall asleep and wake up to some scary old man with sweaty palms.” He realized that that might make him sound a bit arrogant again, though, and added, ”I mean, you’re probably the best healer I’ve met. And the prettiest.” That last part had not been intended to be said out loud, and it took him a few seconds to realize that he actually had. ”Okay, I shouldn’t have said that. Sorry,” he added very quickly, hoping she hadn’t taken any offense. Sure, she had joked about him being attractive, but this was different. Damn his ability to let things like that come out of his mouth. tag: adison <3 word count: 1070 lyrics: wonderwall - oasis notes: so so so so cute. <3

, Felix had never found himself in a position where he felt utterly inadequate, so even though he wanted to tell Adison he understood what she went through, that would be lying. There were times when he bragged and exaggerated a bit, but with someone who was being so honest with him, he didn’t want to be less than truthful. He still sympathized with her, though, and he did know what it was like to have people going around saying things about him that weren’t true. Most of them had at least a basis in truth, though, such as him being an irredeemable womanizer. That wasn’t the truth at all – there had been a few girls, sure, but he had never had any intention of hurting any of them, and it wasn’t like there were hundreds of them either. In fact, to be honest there had only been about five or so that were semi-serious and a few flings, but certainly not that many, and the rumors stemmed mostly from one or two particularly bitter girls. He made sure to set the facts straight when meeting people who disliked him based on reputation, but the fact that the reputation was there was uncomfortable in itself. He found himself even more strangely drawn to her when she smiled, but he decided it was better not to say anything about that until he’d given her a chance to reply to his slip-up. Bloody hell, how embarrassing. He meant it, though. She was possibly one of the prettiest girls he’d seen ever, not just out of the healers. Okay, so she wasn’t a classic supermodel-looking woman, but he often found them to look a little too unreal, almost so pretty that it unnerved him. Veela were the same way. Of course he thought they were beautiful, like all men did, but the attraction was purely physical as he’d be too intimidated to wish for anything else. Clearly, Adison was different. She was very attractive as well, but there was also this comforting air around her, enabling him to relax in her presence and, well, just enjoy her company. He was just another patient to her, though, so he shouldn’t have mentioned anything at all about thinking she was pretty. It would probably make the rest of this night really awkward, and then Michelle would hear about it and it would get even worse. Great. One of these days, he really needed to learn to keep his big mouth shut. The thing was, though, that he usually didn’t have this problem, because he was usually able to smooth things out faster. This had to be because of the medication. He actually caught himself holding his breath as he waited for her to reply. Considering that he’d only minutes ago gone through what was possibly the most painful couple of moments of his life, this shouldn’t be so unnerving, but it was. He was honestly, genuinely scared of how she would react, worried that she might laugh at him or, worse, be made uncomfortable. When she did speak, though, his instinctive initial reaction was simply to look strangely at her. Make her look foolish? What could he possibly have to gain from doing something like that? He had done nothing but lay on this bed and talk to her as she helped him get better, so he really couldn’t quite understand which part of this could possibly make her look foolish at all. He noticed her looking around the room as well, presumably to see if someone was hiding somewhere just to keep an eye on her, and he couldn’t help but think that it was a bit silly of her. Saying that out loud seemed like a bad idea, though, so he simply shook his head slowly. ”Sorry, there hasn’t been any time for making you look since that whole getting kidnapped by a dark witch thing,” he replied. What, did she think he would go through something as mind-numbingly painful as this just to get some dirt on her? What would his motive for that be? With the exception of Michelle, he didn’t actually know any of the healers here, and he hadn’t heard anyone speak badly of Adison before that either so he had absolutely no reason to want anything bad to come to her. He supposed this paranoia couldn’t exactly be helped by it being late and her just having told him a great deal about her personal life, though, so he decided not to judge her too harshly by this. What she said next definitely helped build up under that decision, and he smiled at her again. ”Too good to be true?” he asked, trying to not get too caught up in the fact that she actually seemed to like him. Usually, thoughts being expressed to him that started with the words comforting, charming and attractive ended with a resounding but, and those words certainly weren’t too different. Suddenly, she seemed almost suspicious of him. That certainly wasn’t something he wanted her to be. ”Thanks, though. The rest of that has to be one of the greatest compliments I’ve gotten. Especially coming from you.” Being tied to a hospital bed and talking to the person he relied on to make him better made him feel a bit more vulnerable than he usually did, so he felt the need to straighten out this situation right away. Plus, there was that whole thing about her being totally attracted to her. As her eyes met hers, he smiled faintly. ”You don’t need to worry, you know. I’m not crazy enough to almost get myself killed to make a fool of someone. Especially not a beautiful, sympathetic healer. ” Was he coming on too strong now? He hoped now. Merlin, he was just making this worse, wasn’t he? ”Look, I’m sorry if I’ve made you uncomfortable. I’ll try to shut up if you want. Or you could just sedate me.” He’d rather she didn’t, though. That might mean never getting to talk to her again, and he didn’t want that at all. tag: adison <3 word count: 1017 lyrics: wonderwall - oasis notes: awwwwh. <3

, The Prophet. Of course it was the Prophet. He knew some of the stories they wrote about were, to put it nicely, complete bullshit, and he had always thought it was cruel of them to do that to the people they made up things about. It certainly didn’t give journalists a good reputation in general, and he often found himself wondering why someone who wanted to be taken seriously as reporters spent their time writing silly gossip. That was fine for magazines like Witch Weekly, where (from what he’d skimmed of it) about ninety percent was baseless gossip anyway, but the Prophet was supposed to be a serious newspaper. The sad thing about so many people thinking that it was serious and objective was that it meant they took even the ridiculous parts seriously, effectively causing reputations and careers to be ruined on a whim. The thought of what would happen if the Prophet fell under the control of Death Eaters or the like was certainly a frightening one. They’d probably actually manage to convince people that muggles were rodents that had to be exterminated or something equally heartless through the power of serious journalism. Still, the things that were being done with that newspaper even now was enough to warrant criticism. Was Adison actually blushing? It seemed like it. She hadn’t reacted like that to his compliments, but to the fact that he had appreciated hers. How odd – and very flattering, especially when she even turned away. He hoped she was actually happy, though, and not just embarrassed. That would be awful. Still, there was another thought that tugged at his mind, one that had occurred to him as she was talking about the Prophet. There had been one more picture of her, one with some guy whose name she couldn’t remember at all, and that man had definitely been kissing her. He hadn’t thought much of it because, well, he hadn’t thought much of any of those pictures because he hadn’t been able to remember who she was either, but now, he found it disconcerting. Who was he? A boyfriend? Husband? Either way, he was pretty sure he didn’t like it. He actually wanted her to be single, he couldn’t deny that to himself, and when he got better, he wanted to ask her out and… well, he’d go from there. If she was single. If not, he was pretty sure he was the one making a fool of himself right now. A small voice in the back of his mind was telling him that he really ought to ask her out anyway, but the thought actually frightened him a bit. He could take no for an answer, sure, but with Adison, he didn’t want to have to hear that answer. Damn it, he was falling for this girl, wasn’t it? Yes, he decided, there was no denying that, but he still couldn’t say it out loud. Guarding his words like this wasn’t something he was known to do a whole lot, but there was something special about Adison, something that made him more cautious out of fear that he might upset her somehow. It didn’t really make sense, since she seemed to be able to take care of herself and he had just almost gotten himself and three of his companions killed, but he found himself wanting to protect her, to take care of her. He wanted to make her feel safe and wanted to make her happy in any way he could. It was the same kind of urge he had to watch over Michelle, but still so very different. Michelle was his sister, someone who knew him better than anyone else in the world, while Adison was almost a stranger. Merlin knows it didn’t feel that way, though. They had talked about their families and their concerns, and he had admitted some things he usually wouldn’t tell people. The part of him that had been the cocky, self-satisfied Gryffindor Quidditch captain eight years ago didn’t seem to be nearly as dominant around her, and it felt strange, but he also didn’t mind. That hadn’t been a good part of him anyway. ”I would not like you to shut up.” Wow. That actually surprised him to hear, and he liked it even though – or perhaps because - it wasn’t excruciatingly sweet and well thought-out. There was that genuineness he liked so much about her, the thing that made her stand out so much in his mind. ”Well, that’s a first,” he replied, gently teasing but with a serious undertone. A lot of people would just be thrilled at the idea of getting him to stop talking for once, but she was actually opposed to it. At least it seemed that way. He was almost disappointed when she pulled herself together and spoke more professionally, telling him that he could be sedated if he wanted to. ”No, that’s not it,” he replied quickly. ”I enjoy your company too. Really.” Ways to continue that sentence screamed out in his mind. I’d like to get to know you better. I’d like to spend more time with you. You’re amazing and I’ve never met anyone like you. All those were through, but they sounded cheesy even without being said out loud. But he did have to say something, didn’t he? Just leaving it at that sounded so… impersonal, in a way. Her soft gasp distracted him, though, and he looked at her with a worried expression on his face. His gaze reached her hands again. How could he have forgotten that she had been subjecting herself to danger as well by cleaning out the poison? Idiot, he thought to himself. ”Adison, I… I mean, are you alright?” he asked, clearly concerned for her as he mixed up his words. It was his fault that she had those nasty blisters on her fingers, that she had been subjected to that pain even if it was only for a second. That was one of those things he did not want to happen to her. She was such an incredible, giving person who did not deserve to suffer because of other people – but weren’t the kindest often those who suffered the most because of others’ mistakes? ”I shouldn’t have been distracting you,” he said, ”It’s just... Merlin, you’re something, you know that?” Okay, that had to be one of the least romantic things he could have said. The words just flew out of his mouth, though, and even now that he thought about it, he couldn’t figure out what he should have said instead. tag: adison <3 word count: 1101 lyrics: wonderwall - oasis notes: he's so in loooove, lalalalala. <3

, Felix chuckled slightly again as she replied that she was happy to be the first. It didn’t hurt all that much anymore, he realized. That was definitely a good thing. He resisted the urge to come with some inappropriate response, though, and instead answered with a rather cheesy, ”The pleasure’s all mine.” As weird as that sounded, it was true. He really did appreciate that she didn’t want him to shut up and leave her alone. He probably wouldn’t have anyway unless she actually sedated him because being quiet in the company of someone he liked was difficult for him, but he would have felt worse about it if he had known that she didn’t want anything to do with him. He would probably have tried to change her mind, but that would likely only have led to an awkward situation and her most certainly never agreeing to talk to him again. Not that she’d agreed to anything of the sort now either, but at least there was a chance she wasn’t entirely opposed to the idea. There really was no doubt in his mind now – sometime before this night was through, he would simply have to ask her out, and if she said no, well, the worst that would happen was that they wouldn’t speak again. So why did that idea bother him so much? He watched as she put her hands in her pockets, clearly surprised that he had asked how she was doing. That was odd. Couldn’t she tell by now that he was, at the very least, interested in her? That was cute. An endearing, attractive kind of cute, not like the kind of cute that was used when talking about… puppies. Okay, what was with his mind comparing things to puppies tonight? He had to stop doing that. He was even allergic to puppies. Ironic, really, his animagus form and patronus considered, but true nonetheless. Also completely beside the point, which was that Adison just got more charming by the second, especially when she said he was one of the best distractions she’d encountered. ”Same to you,” he said, but realized that that probably sounded odd just as it came out of his mouth. She was a distraction from the fact that he was in pain and had put the lives of his colleagues in danger, though, and that was certainly something he was grateful for, even if the way he had phrased it didn’t really sound all that intelligent. The medication was his excuse, though. Sure, he was thinking clearer than he had expected to be, but that didn’t mean they didn’t have any effect on him. At least that was what he would blame if she thought he sounded completely corny. ”As far as I’m concerned, you’re doing a good job,” he said. ”I feel better, anyway. That looks painful, though.” He looked at the remains of the blisters on her fingers, not even wanting to think about the huge one on his own body. The moment it crossed his mind, though, he was also reminded of the pain for a second, and had to take a quick look. That looked more painful than it felt as well – and he’d probably feel it again once the medication wore off. No, he was not looking forwards to that. It’d be fine, though. After all, getting hurt like that had given him the chance to meet this gorgeous woman, which just went to show that there was a silver lining to everything, even his reckless bad decisions. It also served as a reminder that he shouldn’t do something like that again, though, because that would probably lead to him getting killed and definitely not getting to see her again. There were other good reasons for not getting killed as well, of course, but he’d think about those when not talking to someone he liked this much. Or he could let Michelle remind him when she would inevitably scold him for having done something this stupid. Then Adison asked what he meant by ‘something’, and he found himself once again thinking through all the things he might have said instead. Something was one of those words that really could mean anything, but he couldn’t find the words to explain what he’d really meant without it sounding completely ridiculous. Then she started saying something about him not having to answer and her judgment skills being impaired, and he found himself needing to explain himself even more than before. ”No, it’s okay,” he said, then added almost instantly, ”I mean that you’re… you’re amazing.” Had he really just said that? Clearly, the answer was yes, and now that it was said, there was no taking it back. Sure, she deserved to hear that and he absolutely meant it – not to mention that it wasn’t as bad as some of the other comments that had just slipped out of him – but still. She had said never mind, after all, so maybe she really had not wanted him to explain anything. tag: adison <3 word count: 841 lyrics: wonderwall - oasis notes: blah, short.

i don’t believe that anybody - - - - - - feels the way i do about you now
, ”Wait, you don’t have a dog?” Felix could have predicted a lot of ways she would respond, but that? Not if he’d guessed a thousand times. Possibly within the first million guesses, but… It was certainly unexpected. It was also a bit strange, considering that he had been thinking about dogs only a few seconds ago. Wait, she wasn’t a legilimens, was she? No, then she wouldn’t have needed to ask for clarification about what he meant. Or was that just an attempt to hide it? Okay, now he was being paranoid again. He had to stop doing that and just accept that accept that Adison was, strangely enough, not too good to be true. Too good, clearly, but also real. A real woman who captivated him this entirely. He certainly wouldn’t have seen that coming either, heading out on an extremely dangerous mission only two days ago. Looking on the bright side of things was something he was generally good at anyway, but meeting Adison Carter after screwing up as badly as he had was probably a lot more luck than he deserved. Sure, her fit of laughter was a bit strange, but he didn’t mind one bit. In fact, it was contagious, and soon enough, he found himself laughing as well without really knowing why. As the laughter died down, he looked curiously at her for a moment, awaiting some sort of explanation for that question. Fortunately, though, he didn’t have to wait very long. Wife and kid? Had she actually been worried about that? He could practically feel his heart ready to jump through his chest at that moment. If she’d been thinking about, no, worried about whether or not he was married, that had to mean she was interested. Right? He chose to think so, anyway. Sure, the part about the dog still seemed a bit random, but he could sort-of see where she was coming from. The image of the perfect family with their large house, beautiful children and, of course, a dog was one he knew as well. Funnily enough, his own family had fit that image perfectly throughout most of his childhood. Well, five children probably wasn’t ideal for most people, but his parents had handled it well. It had been a sad day when they’d had to give the dog away because they discovered Felix to be allergic, though. Michelle, four years old at the time, had been absolutely hysterical. Fifteen years later, the memory had become quite funny, but it had seemed completely tragic at the time. ”No, no dog. I’m allergic, actually,” he replied after she mentioned him making her nervous, his eyebrows arching slightly. ”No wife or kid either, now that you mention it.” Then she started talking about what her Hogwarts-aged self would have done if they had talked, and he had to chuckle again, though mostly because that was how he would have expected most girls to react back then. Had there been any limit to his cockiness at all back then? No, not really, he concluded. He had firmly believed that he owned the world. It was a shame, really, considering the amount of friendships he had missed out on because he was simply too cool for some people – like the woman in front of him, who had been a mere Hufflepuff who never made a big deal of herself. Unfortunately, she was right about one thing, and that was that it would have been a reason to faint if he’d remembered her name. It would probably have been a mean dare or something like that, to see how some awkward Hufflepuff girl would react to having the Gryffindor captain show interest in her. Those were the kind of pranks his friends had sometimes enjoyed pulling back then. He had never really been a part of it, but he would have if he had been asked directly. That wasn’t something he was proud of. He shook his head slightly at his own immaturity back then, then looked up at Adison again. ”Yeah, I was a jerk. Good thing we didn’t talk back then or you wouldn’t have wanted me to wake up at all,” he said with a teasing voice in his tone. There was an element of truth in it, though, as there were a lot of people he’d managed to rub the wrong way and would probably still like to punch him out for it. Thank goodness for self-insight, though, so he would at least understand why if some old Hogwarts acquaintance came up to him and punched him in the face. ”I’d probably have thought you were a loon if you asked me about a dog,” he then admitted. That, too, was true. It wasn’t exactly a predictable reaction to being told you were amazing. ”If you don’t mind me asking, though, are you married?” Well, she had brought it up, so asking didn’t seem inappropriate anymore. Still a tiny bit embarrassing, but a lot less than just randomly bringing it up earlier would have been, and since he more or less had to know, now was as good a time to find out as any. tag: adison <3 word count: 863 lyrics: wonderwall - oasis notes: adorableness. <3

, Felix loved hearing her laugh, he realized, which was probably why hearing it made him want to smile as well. Okay, this was getting a tiny bit ridiculous. He’d only known her for a very short amount of time, but on the other hand, it didn’t matter because he was absolutely certain that he was falling for her. He couldn’t recall having fallen for someone this fast before, but that didn’t matter either. He had been told that love was supposed to be different every time, after all, and while he’d always thought that sounded a bit ridiculous, he would happily accept it if it meant he could feel less silly right now. He just smiled as she said she didn’t think he was a jerk, though, realizing that she was probably just being nice. Her next comment confirmed that. He didn’t mind, though, because he knew as well as anyone else what he’d been like back then, and her description was actually fairly accurate. His expression grew a bit more serious again, though, and he quickly said, ”I don’t think you would either.” Just to make sure she knew he didn’t think she was some crazy person who would literally have left him to die just because she might not like him. Okay, so they were both mildly loony at this point, but it didn’t matter. He had never been known for his incredible rationality anyway. And, as she said that she was married, he could actually feel himself getting a bit angry, which he knew wasn’t rational. Sure, she had been flirting with him, there was really no doubt of that, but she hadn’t actually said that she was interested. So he should just accept that she was with someone else and… ”I am in fact married to my work.” Well, that brought that trail of thought to an abrupt end, and he had to force himself to not let out a loud sigh of relief. That would have sounded just a little bit too pathetic. He was relieved, though, probably a whole lot more than he should be considering the things he had just been telling himself. ”You had me worried for a second, you know,” he said, chuckling softly. It was true, though. He did not want her to be married or involved with someone or, basically, unavailable in anyway because she was absolutely amazing. If they got seriously involved, he told himself, he’d have to remember to mention some of the nice things he’d thought about her tonight. He was a bit taken aback by the next question anyway, though, as he couldn’t quite understand why she would still feel the need to ask if he was involved with someone. Shouldn’t it be fairly obvious by now that he wasn’t? Then again, he knew there were people, men and women like, who would probably flirt like this even if they did have a significant other. He hoped Adison didn’t think he was one of those. It was entirely possible that she did think something like that, though, considering his terrific reputation from his Hogwarts years. It was eight years since his graduation, but it was also probably eight years since Adison had seen him, so it wouldn’t be very strange if her opinion of him was colored by what she’d heard back then. There were several others who judged him based on that, understandably enough, but it was still fairly annoying. He’d grown up since then just like everyone else. He was an auror, which in itself took some skill and hard work, and even a pretty good one. Well, most of the time. He made mistakes like everyone else and this last one had been particularly bad, but that didn’t change the fact that he did a pretty damn good job most of the time. ”I am in fact single,” he replied quite simply. There was no reason to complicate this conversation any further. As he finished his sentence, though, he yawned, reminding him that he was also, in fact, tired. Damn it, this was a bad time to be tired. He wanted to stay up and talk to Adison all night if he could, despite the pain that would undoubtedly return before too long and that he hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleep in… well, only about two nights or so, but the whole kidnapped by dark wizards thing made it feel much, much longer. So basically, he was extremely tired, but he’d rather just talk to Adison than sleep. That had to say something about her. He met her gaze once more, and a smile appeared on his face. ”Do you want to go out sometime?” he asked. Well, that couldn’t have been less romantic. He could not just leave it at that. ”I hope you’ll forgive the lack of flowers and chocolate along with that question, but it seems we’re in a hospital.” Was that weird? Yes, probably. He didn’t really care, though, because he had to ask before he fell asleep. tag: adison <3 word count: 841 lyrics: wonderwall - oasis notes: he is so going to buy her flowers and chocolate sometime. and a teddy bear. i like teddy bears. omfg i need sleep.

i don’t believe that anybody - - - - - - feels the way i do about you now
, Felix saw the smile grow on her face, and took that as a yes even before she answered. He was an eternal optimist, after all, and this certainly seemed to be going in the right direction. She wouldn’t be smiling if she was going to reject him, right? That would’ve been a bit strange, and he would have had to do some serious work on his people-reading skills. Or he could blame the medication and go on with his life, which was probably what he would do. Probably. He had a feeling that forgetting about Adison was going to be more difficult than it reasonably should be, though. He hadn’t met that many women in his life that he’d instantly clicked with like this. In fact, come to think of it, he hadn’t met anyone else, and there could be no doubt that it meant something. He wasn’t a guy who had spent his life waiting for his one true love or anything like that, and he didn’t dare think that he might just suddenly have met her tonight, but it definitely felt like the start of something that had the potential to be good. It’d be awful if he had to give that up before even figuring out what it was. He watched her as she seemed to think something through, hopefully something like when she had time. Her words confirmed that assumption. She’d give up sleeping on her day off to see him? Well, that was flattering. He didn’t want to prevent her from catching up on some well-deserved sleep, but on the other hand, he wanted to see her again without getting himself seriously injured by some malevolent plant. For a second, he found himself wondering if he would actually do that if she’d found out she didn’t have time, but he very quickly concluded that no, he would not. That would be a self-destructive, creepy and mildly stalkerish thing to do, and while he certainly liked her a lot, he wasn’t quite obsessed enough to stalk her. Hopefully, he never would be either, not with Adison or with anyone else. The only thing that would come from that was a terrified victim and, at least in the muggle world, a restraining order. Plus, he had too much respect for other people to actually want to invade their privacy unless it was on official business and the person in question was either suspected of something or somehow related to someone suspected of something. ”I don’t want to interrupt your sleep or anything,” he said with a crooked smile on his lips, ”But I do want to see you, so I guess I’d rather interrupt you after all.” He then noticed the sweet smile on her face, and he chuckled slightly again. A lot of women would look ridiculous wearing an expression like that, but she pulled it off extremely well. Then again, he was pretty sure almost anything she did or said right now would only seem charming to her, and that wasn’t just the drugs in his system speaking. Okay, they might have something to do with it, but it had more to do with her and her amazing… amazingness. Amazingness? Really? Maybe getting some sleep wasn’t such a bad idea, now that she suggested it. His thoughts were obviously not completely collected anymore – collected enough for him to register that he had a date with Adison on Saturday and would therefore need to get better before that time (and he would, if only for that reason), but not quite enough for him to understand every thought that popped into his head. He still didn’t want to sleep, but he was beginning to realize that it might be necessary. ”I guess that might not be a bad idea,” he replied with a sigh, and seemingly to underline his point, he had to suppress a yawn only a second later. He smiled as she teased him. It would probably have annoyed him if she hadn’t pretty much just agreed to go out with him, but as she had, he decided that this was a good “something”. ”So are you,” he replied simply, and then nodded as she said he was healing quickly. He didn’t know much about it, but he knew he wasn’t in pain at the moment and therefore naturally felt a whole lot better. Sure, he might have to be on some serious pain medication for a few days, but he was feeling confident that he’d be able to go back to work before too long. So what if no one had actually said that? He was feeling better already, and since she said he was healing, he could only assume he was going to recover fully. He’d probably still need a few days off, but now that he was going to see this gorgeous woman on Saturday, he wasn’t going to complain.
