Bills, bills were never a good thing, especially while you were trying to pay off a loan for an overly priced space and then on top of that pay off whatever bills were coming her way on. Lacey probably could have moved back to muggle England, in order to move back in with her parents, but something about that didn’t sit right with her. Besides the fact that she was her own woman now, she had been married, had a child. This was hardly the time to be moving so far away from everything else…Plus, her parents hadn’t exactly agreed with her about keeping her child in the first place, and then on top of that, the divorce. So Lacey hadn’t actually spoken to either one of them in about a year and a half.
Either way a person looked at it, a person looked at it, Lacey was left with a limited amount of questions. When thinking about what it was she could do, she had chosen to take the much more happy ending sort of choice and go with Adison Carter. Hey, they had lived together for about six years already, so this right now should hardly be something of a bother. Of course, when they were living together before there were about a hundred other people there as well, so this simply meant a much smaller group of people in a much larger setting. The grand total being for of them, whenever Noelle came home, and then of course Lacey and Nate if they were accepted into the home.
Moving up that doorstep she stretched as much as she could consider the circumstances. Groaning slightly before plopping the bags down beside her, on the ground and looked to the light brown haired child, a soft smile coming to her features as she rubbed his head a couple of times. “How you doing buddy?” gaining a grin and a thumbs up Nate looked to the door. “So this is where we’re going to live momma?”
"Well…yes… Nate you know the part we're going for. We’ve got to pull off our best sad puppy dog looks, and beg your lovely aunt Adison, to let us stay here." while she had stated these words, Lacey felt that there probably wouldn't be much in the way of problems when it came to this. Well, unless of course Adison had suddenly taken in a number of pets, or people who didn't want to receive care from St. Mungos, but somehow Lacey found herself doubting either of those when it came to those options, it simply seemed very unlikely. Biting the bottom of her lip Lacey shifted the heavy bag so that it was more to the side of them and stepped forwards.
Knocking at the door was all she had to do, and sure, she had a feeling that the empty house would need some sort of lively guests, and she didn’t see one of her friends turning her away. But that sense of uncertainty was definitely something that was left to be desired. “Ready with that puppy dog face we practiced?” Lacey said with a smile as she looked back to Nate, the younger boy smiled himself and clasped his hands together. Widening his eyes and pouting his lower lip he looked up to his mother in what could be described as one of those pathetic, and yet utterly adorable faces. “Very goood. There’s no way Addie will turn us away with that cute face of yours.”
As Lacey turned her attention back to the door she could have sworn that she heard some sort of…perhaps yelp, or scream of surprise or shock coming from the other side of the door. Holding back that laughter the brunette knew just what was going on, on the other side of that door. Or at least, she could claim she was 99.9% sure that Adison was watching a horror movie by herself, and thus had managed to freak herself out in some way or another. The image that she came up with of the blonde was something that let a large grin come to her features and had to hold back the laugh that she was sure to burst out. “What’s so funny Momma?” a reasonable question coming from the five year old, someone who seemed to be more worried about the scream and then the amused look on his mothers face from the scream.
“Ah. Nothing, nothing. Alright, lets knock.” Nate stepped forward at this and when his mother knocked a couple times he followed suit and knocked a couple times himself. Taking a step back at the same time Lacey nodded to Nate to make sure he would be ready to put on that puppy dog expression when the door finally opened, and Lacey made a note to herself that she needed to prepare herself for the opening of the door. Something which she was expecting to take a little while simply because she was sure that the knocking was not something that Adison would want to hear within the middle of the horror movie. To think that this women, who was basically at the top of her chain in her job was probably someone who was huddling under the blankets at this time was something that caused Lacey to hold back to laughter a second time.
“…Momma...You’re acting kinda weird.”
Though the words were taken back when the door was slowly opened and Nate snapped to attention, clasping his hands together for a second time he pulled off those widened, saddened eyes and then the pouted lip, blinking at the sight before him he looked to his mother who had quickly clasped her hand over her mouth. “Addie, somehow I don’t think whatever your about to fight, is going to take you seriously with that look and your eyes closed like that.”

That laughter that Lacey had been holding back burst out as that cry of joy came from the blond followed by that tackle of a hug. Aww, how nice it was to feel something that was so familiar to her, something which, had given her comfort in the past was clearly something that, even now, would continue that sense of security and comfort. “And I’m of course happy to see you!” returning the attack like hug with a squeeze of her own. “Its definitely been waaaay too long since the last time that I saw you.”
And it was true, it seemed like it had been forever since Lacey had seen either one of her besties, Lestia was off doing lord knows what, Adison of course had her Head Healer position to deal with, and of course the patients who Lacey bet couldn’t get enough of her, and then of course there was herself. She was busy with a number of things, things which she couldn’t exactly say were all that exciting, or necessarily good. But it was still things that would keep the three of them a part more so then it would keep the three of them together like they had been in the past.
Nate laughed as he found himself being swung up into the arms of Adison and in turn wrapped his arms loosely around her, in a hug like embrace. Though it probably also had a lot to do with the fact that he didn’t want anything to happen with the posibilty of slipping and him being dropped….Or going down with Adison. “Nooooope! I’m not the bad guy! I’m a good guy! You don’t gotta worry, I’ll definitely keep you and momma safe from any bad guys!” a large proud grin came to the young males face as he gave off a firm sort of nod. Lacey smiling herself at the words coming from the five year old, “That’s right buddy, you’re the best protection us girls have.”
The shift to the side of the female, he shifted himself and covered his slight yawn. When he caught sight of the concerned look from Lacey he perked up quickly, “I’m not tired!” Lacey chuckled and shook her head, “Oh right, I’ve heard that one before,” stating this as she moved into the familiar house she stretched and pushed some of the dark brown hair from her face. “Nnnn…Good to see some things don’t change.” Taking note of the mess of sweets, and their containers on that table before the TV.
That perkiness only seemed to rise when the reminder of the room and then the toys that were in there came into the discussion and when placed to the ground Nate nodded. “Yes! Toys!” he didn’t need much more of a prompt besides that, the small figure picked up the backpack he had been carrying and bolted towards that room. Picking up his small feet he moved up the stares and paused, just briefly, to wave to the two of them before turning into the room that had been designed by the two of them.
A sigh of relief came from Lacey as she waved back to the young boy and watched him flee, before finding herself to follow after the fellow hufflepuff, coming to lean back against one of the kitchen counter and stared down the counter part. “Thanks,” A soft laugh coming from her as the opening statement of what some may consider to be an interigation of sorts. “Oh yes, Mr. Douchebag, has cut off that child support payments for a while now, and he’s also started to not only cut off contact from me, but from his kid as well.” Groaning and a frown appearing on her features at the last statement.
“It doesn’t surprise me that he ignores and avoids me, but to ignore Nate like that, that’s whats really wrong with this picture here.” The words that came from Adison’s mouth next were the words that seemed to lift the weight of the world from her shoulders, and if not then a very large amount of that weight was now gone. Something which caused another, louder, sigh come from Lacey as she held back that urge to jump Adison in her fit of joy that she felt coming over her. “Ooooh. I knew that there was a reason I kept you around.” That sense of joking came to her tone as she looked to Adison. “But in all seriousness, thank you. That’s just what I needed to hear.”
“If you ever need us to get out, then just let me know and we’ll pack our stuff up.” Though obviously she was hoping that those words would never end up coming from Adison, that as long as the two of them could put up with each other, and remain civil then there wouldn’t be an opportunity to say those sort of words. “Well, you definitely are prepared then, and lord knows Nate loves you to pieces, and I do as well. So I couldn’t picture a better place than this for him—for either of us to be at.”

Ahhh. How the child knew how to charm people, it seemed to be a gift he inherited probably from either of his parents, which one it really was Lacey couldn’t really claim to know. But, he would definitely be one of those kids who would end up breaking tons of girl’s hearts, ah yes, her son the famous Heart Breaker. The thought of that brought a soft smile to her features and gently shook her head, she’d have to try and tame that charm that he had, otherwise who knew what would come of it. Her attention was brought back to Adison at the sudden proclamation, and laughter came from the brunette’s lips. “I agree it is ending here and now! We should hunt down that Lestia and have her come out for drinks when the mighty healer isn’t too busy, and my business isn’t driving me insane.” That smile seemed to be permanent at the time, listening to what had been said between Nate and Adison, “Mmm. Indeed, who needs a grown man when you’ve got who is obviously so much more reliable, and younger.”
“That’s right! You two dun gotta worry ‘bout nothing!” he cheered from the stairway.
“Oh hungry, is it?” she looked to the mess a second time and grinned, “Well, I’ll just have to make sure that stomach of yours isn’t so hungry anymore, if not this time then the next time you feel a rumbly in your tummy.” Oh good lord, there was that Winnie the Pooh book she had been reading to Nate just a day before coming out in her every day speech, “Oh goodness, excuse my child book quote there.” Knowing that Nate was up in the room, out of earshot was something that was of comfort, especially when it came to talking about his father. “Men are just…ugh…stupid, worthless…” she didn’t really mean it of course, but the pit of her stomach clenched at the reminder of the husband she once had. “I just wonder if the marriage was something he thought was a good idea at the time and then got tired of it. Fickle minded creatures they are.” A light hearted smile came to her features a second time when she heard the last retort, “Oh, yes. It’s completely his loss. If he ever thinks he’s getting a second chance he’s wrong.”
Lacey grinned and winked at Adison, “Absolutely, absolutely. We gotta get you spending your money on something besides nice houses anyway.” That sense of joking still lingering there in the words that she spoke. It was truly one of the best things, to have someone like Adison around, someone who Lacey had known since she was what…Eleven, twelve years old? She didn’t know who else she could turn to when it came to something like this, Lestia was a little bit more unpredictable when it came to having two people living in her bachelorette pad all of the sudden, and Lacey wouldn’t have wanted to get in the way of someone else’s life style. Don’t get her wrong, she loved Lestia to pieces, much like Adison, Lacey considered Lestia to be extended family, someone who was like a sister to her, but it was like Adison was the stable, sensible girl who clearly loved her job and could handle it, and Lestia was much more the free spirit of the group. Honestly, there were times where Lacey wondered how the three of them managed to get along so well with each other, when they all had such different personalities, personalities that some might consider to clash more often than get along. Again, being pulled from her thoughts with a gentle laugh at the mention of an ever-lasting slumber party, “Oh yes. That definitely sounds like one of the best things right about now, though I doubt sneaking in other people here wouldn’t be nearly as hard as it was back at school.”
“It’s a good thing that you have been, I don’t think that I’ve run into enough people who have safe houses planned out. Especially considering these times.” Biting onto her lower lip Lacey couldn’t help but feel a light shudder come across her body. These were darker times then many people were really willing to admit, maybe it was because this all-powerful dark lord character was finding his followers much more quietly, and then this supposed other group was getting ready to revolt against him. This would be the sort of house that Lacey would come to if she ever needed to hide away, especially since she herself, was a muggle born, and from what she had heard this dark lord detested those who were of lower ranking than pure blooded. “You’re definitely one of the more prepared people that I’ve met…Well, bed and space wise at least.” Looking towards the stairs she smiled, “It’s good knowing he’s got such strong people backing him up, who will look after him when I can’t, or give him that advice when he needs it and lord knows he can’t speak to his mother about it.” Laughing again at the mention of him being a heart break, and this time within the school that the two of them attended. “I would be extatic if he ended up showing magical powers, and those girls better watch out for when this kid comes, cause there won’t be any coming back from that heart break.”
“Well, then we’ll be imposing on you for a little while, thanks again.” Following here to the staircase Lacey gave a nod, “I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he’s knocked out like a light, he’s gone through quite a bit today.”

“Mmmm. Perhaps she’s found herself crashing with her most recent conquest.” This seemed like something that truly was quite possible, seeing as how Lestia was typically known as the flirt, or the party queen, in fact if Lacey had gone to a muggle High School, she was sure that Lestia would have been the queen bee, that one girl that all the girls hated and envied and the girl that all the boys would love to spend at least one night with. Sighing with a slight headshake at that image, how Lacey loved that crazy girl, even with all those attachments of hers. Laughter seemed to be something which was a non-stopper this night, another outburst came from her as she heard the next comment that had been made. “Oh I’m so glad that I can speak baby to you, but I think that speaking in at least teenager would be best for the two of us…If I can even remember how we really spoke when we were truly teenagers.”
“Oh my dear Addie, I don’t think that I would be able to truly sneak a man past you, even if my life depended on it. I’m sure you would find him and attack him….well, in an interrogation sort of way.” Of course, Lacey would probably end up doing the same thing for any man that would manage to walk successfully into the workoholic’s life. “Speaking of men, any of those hottie doctors, or nurses or…perhaps even paitents strike your fancy? I hear you get quite a bit of interesting characters wandering in and out of your work place.” Grinning as she folded her arms over her chest and looked to her friend. “Because if there are, I think there needs to be a coffee date between me and this other person.”
It was true, that thinking about something like this was rather morbid, but it was something that Lacey found herself thinking of quite a bit. She doubted anything would happen, and Lacey would never dream of leaving her son alone in this life, without some sort of blood attachment, even with the great unblood related attachments he already had. But being a single mother, in this day and age it was something that she thought about because she knew of the events happening. That there was always was the chance that something could happen and she would want there to be some form of preparation and a steady place for her son. “Yeah, I know that. I wouldn’t dream of leaving his side, I guess its just those precautions that runs through my mind.”
Again laughter came from her lips, “Oh god. With you interrogating those girls, he’s going to have the hardest time getting any of them to want to be around him. His aunt will be scaring them off, and his mom probably won’t help his case.” Though the image that it presented was definitely something to laugh at. Ahh teenaged Nate, how she couldn’t wait for those years to come around, and could only hope he would turn out to be more kind and considerate like herself, and less like how his father was.
Looking to the lego path Lacey shook her head, “I’ll tell ya, this kid has a knack for making a mess within seconds, just think how it’ll be if he shows those magical abilities, ahhh how many more messes he’ll create then.” Walking into the bedroom shortly after Adison had and smiled at the sight before her. “Well, at least he’s got that cute charm of his,” she murmured moving over to kneel down next to the sleeping child. The mention of the green room and his freaking out got her to pause for a moment, thinking over the possible reaction, “I think he knows the room well enough that he won’t freak out. But in case he does I’ll make sure to leave my green room door open for him.”

The conversations that Lacey had with Adison over the years were the sort of conversations where you needed to be there in order to fully understand what was going on. Otherwise the two of them might sound like some of the most bubble headed people around, seeing as how the two could jump from one thing to another within seconds and were still able to recall things that had been said previously. Lacey had come to consider it one of those gifts that she and Adison had, one of those things which would appear in full strength when the three friends were together rather than when it was simply two, but even then it would seem that they could jump from one thing to another.
“Oh of course I do, if I didn’t know you as well as I do by now, I would be quite concerned.” A sort like laugh came from Lacey when she heard the comment on a second Nate and then the other coming to hunt him down if that parent would end up deserting the second child. “Ohnonono. The next person to have a kid most definitely needs to be you, Nate’s said before that he wants a playmate. And you would be such a kick ass mom.” It was true, simply seeing how Adison was with Nate made Lacey believe that the blonde was someone who could make a great mom, an over protective streak and still willing to let some things slide seemed to be how Lacey had come to imagine Adison as a mother. Plus, she had no doubt that the kid Adison had would end up being one of the cutest around.
“Besides, if I had another kid I would definitely make sure the guy was permently sticking around, someone who you and Lestia favored and Nate had fallen in love with as a father figure. Otherwise I am closed for business, good luck getting me out on a date if Nate doesn’t like him.”
The description of this Derek guy sent a slight chill down Lacey’s spine and she arched a brow, “Excuse me?” she mumbled when she heard the bit about the kiss and then felt her mouth gape open slightly as she went on to explain the actions, or lack there of, that this Derek character was going along with. “I would find myself some sort of decoy for him, clearly he doesn’t know about the whole boundries and when to stop sort of thing. Just listening to you talk about this guy gives me a bit of the chills.” It was the sudden pause that Adison gave Lacey that perked her interest even more so and Lacey had to hold back her burst of laughter when she heard that oh-so familiar name.
“Felix Warden? Of course I remember Mr. Popular Quidditch Captain. Mr. Sleep around with everyone cause I have such a great smile.” Rolling her eyes slightly Lacey carefully looked over her friend. “I remember him well enough, the question is, is he this potential…mate…for lack of a better term, for you? Cause, I’mma have to have a sit down with him then.” Oh, and she was dead serious too. Lacey couldn’t even begin to claim she knew the male mentioned, she’d had a few conversations in passing with him but she simply was never to girl he would really spend the sort of time with during their school years.
Of course, different social groups probably didn’t help that much either, but if this guy had any interest in Adison, or Adison showed an interest in him, in more than a simply friendly way Lacey would end up looking into it.
Lacey’s own jaw dropped, a second time at the mention of her son becoming the next Lestia. “Oh good lord. I love Les to bits, but I will not have my son becoming her protégé.” Shaking her head firmly Lacey chuckled just slightly, “Oh yes, you can bet that we’re going to need our game faces for when that time comes, because it is going to be quite difficult.” Next with the mention of the spells that Adison listed off Lacey shuddered at the messes that Nate would get himself into and of course would leave for her to clean up unless he was feeling in an especially good mood. “Oh man. I’m going to have to make sure I teach him some discipline about those powers.”
With the last comment Lacey watched as Adison flipped on the heater before she carefully picked up Nate, who in turn grumbled in his sleep and shifted towards his mother’s body head. Mumbling something in his sleep he curled up to the softness of the bed when Lacey placed him there. Moving the blankets over the small boy she smiled in a gentle manner and placed a kiss on his forehead. “Goodnight buddy, sleep well.” Moving over to the door she glanced back to him a final time before slipping out of the room.

Still, the idea that some guy was going around and staring her down like that, or doing things simply to try and become physical with her, was something that did not sit well with her. Even if Adison seemed to be perfectly fine with it, or if she wasn’t she certainly knew how to cover that much up. “Well… Even if you’re on the okay deal with him, he still gives me the heepy jeepies.” Lacey carefully came to watch to reaction to the description that she had given to her about the Mr. Felix Warden. Okay, so it had been a good six years since the three of them had actually been within the same area, but what could she say? This was the last time she had heard of, been around the popular boy of the school, the one all the girls wanted to bang, in fact she wouldn’t have been at all surprised if Lestia had managed to get in on some of the action, if she had been given the chance. But seeing that sort of reaction from Adison, made Lacey keep her mouth shut about the idea of Lestia.
“Hmmmm…” Lacey mumbled as she again carefully studied her friend, “Yes. That’s true that people try and change, and seeing as how you’re defending Felix, I have a feeling that theres at least slightly more than a simple, he’s just a paitent routine.” Ahaha. There were those somewhat powerful powers of observation she’d obtained as a mother, however, it was also her overall sense of how Adison was giving on those slight signs. A bit of uncertainty, the way she carefully chose to speak, it meant if nothing more than friendship was there she was either trying to avoid it, or there was something else developing as well. Nodding to the second fact that her sister was a Healer, well in training. “Ahhh, family connections already, hm? And do we like the younger sister as much as we like the older brother?” a grin like smirk coming to her features.
“An Auror is he?” that was the profession that Lacey had almost entered herself, if it hadn’t been for the fact that she had gotten pregnant at seventeen and had a kid by age eighteen. So he would at least win some points there with her, a dangerous job that took skill and the knowledge that one day you may not come back from your job. That you could be gone for months at a time before being able to make an appearance to the real world once more, the adventures and puzzles one could have while in that job were things that intrigued her. Being able to think on your feet was something of a skill that Lacey could admire in someone, even someone who had a track record that probably almost every girl at Hogwarts during their time knew of. That grin like smirk crept back onto her features as she heard the sudden outburst of, well praise that Adison was doing. “I knew it!” she clapped her hands together. “So, now we know that he’s family oriented, got the whole good looks, and he gets points for being an Auror.”
“So when is he coming by the house?” looking to Adison she rose a brow, though as the conversation went back to Nate she shuddered. “Oyyy…You’re not the only one who wouldn’t want to know who he’s sleeping with.” Lacey had been raised as a proper girl who should not give her body up to anyone unless she was certain that he was the one, and well, they all knew how that turned out. But on the other hand, she doubted she would enforce such strict rules with Nate, especially since he was a boy who would probably be encouraged by three completely different girls, plus the possibility of a father, if not father figure. “Oooh nooo..If he learns to apparate, we’re so screwed. Waaaay more screwed than I would ever hope to be, there’s gotta be some sort of spell we could use to keep him in one spot.” Listening to the guidelines that were given to her, Lacey nodded, “Makes sense to me, I’ll have to make sure to do just that.”
Plopping to the couch that eye brow of hers rose back up, “The question is, do you really mean Nate, who is really sweet, or are we talking about Felix?”

Oh, hohoho…She had her. This reaction was just like whenever Lacey caught Nate sneaking a peak at his birthday presents early, or when he ate one of the sweets when Lacey had told him no sweets before dinner. So she had very much so mastered that whole guilty conscience thing, especially if she only said a certain amount of things that would allow those things being hidden from her, to in fact come out. That large grin returned to her features as her full name was stated, “Oh goodness, you mean you would never flirt around with a supposedly hot, nicely chiseled patient that would, probably, flirt right on back with a girl with beautiful features and a good personality?”
Lacey had Adison right where she wanted her, a place where she would need to scrounge up some sort of excuse, some sort of thing that would possibly cover the footprints that she had laid out for Lacey. Plus, she could tell from the panic that covered Adison’s body language that she was feeling the need to cover up as much as she could as fast as she could. It was the same thing Lacey went through when she first started going out with her ex, someone who was cocky and at times too full of himself, much more than anyone should be and she was sure that he rubbed both of her friend’s the wrong way a number of times. She wouldn’t want to date someone her friends would disapprove of, and so the fact that Adison was hiding it, was something that Lacey could, in fact, understand. Approval from one’s closest friends, from what she had come to think anyway, was something that was rather important.
“Oh, you can bet that there are points. There are always points of some kind, in this case he’s managed to gain points in favor of my book, though until I talk with him he’s still got more negative than positive.” Simple as that. Lacey grinned once more when she heard her suddenly drift off, “Yeah, I thought you might want me collecting on those points when it concerns Felix Waren, the supposed patient only.”
“The just a patient ship has already sailed my dear Adison, especially with that glazed over lovestruck face of yours, and I, as we all know, am the master of that look. So don’t try to trick me into thinking that there isn’t some sort of sexual chemistry going on there.” Leaning over when Adison went to scream into the pillow, Lacey pulled on some of the blond girls herself, “It’s okay to like him you know. I just need to do the whole thorogh mix of best friend checking on him, and the motherly protection towards you. If this guy manages to get to you in ways that you want him too, that I may want him too then I’m all for it.” She shrugged and leaned against the back cushion of the couch.
“However, I will not allow some guy to come in and end up hurting you, even if this wasn’t Mr. Quidditch Captain of the Gryffindor household with a bad past, I would still be giving you this hard time.” She wouldn’t have been surprised at all, if some guy walked into Lacey’s life that Adison and even Lestia would be bugging her about him, wanting to find out what they could, especially since that supposed guy wouldn’t only affect Lacey, it would affect Nate as well. But as far as Lacey was concerned, and not that she had opened up about this to anyone, but the idea of opening her heart to some other guy, scared the shit out of her. She didn’t know if there would ever be a time where she would be able to be nearly as open towards love as she used to be, at least when it came to herself.
A shudder came down her spine once more at the mention of a possible Lestrange or a Greyback becoming her son’s girlfriend. “Oh Merlin no. Not as long as I get a say in it as his mother is he going to date someone like that. Not unless they can prove to me that they’re not like their parents.” A firm nod and Lacey folded her arms over her chest, “Not in my book,” Then she watched as the pillow came to cover Adison once more, only to have her peak out once more, and that all knowing smirk came back to her features. “Nate, my ass. You mean someone whose name starts with an F and ends in an X. Like I said, whens he coming by the house?” she paused and grinned again, “Should I perhaps cook him a meal?”

AS WE GO ON WE REMEMBER ALL THE TIMES WE HAD together. and as our lives change, from whatever we WILL STILL BE FRIENDS FOREVER. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ” Adison’s gaze dropped, he had called her amazing. Lacey probably was holding her workaholic half to blame for her only good personality. Adison couldn’t help but roll her eyes once as her best friend talked about points. It was hilarious to Adison. She had no problem drilling Lacey’s ex douchebag, and the two drilled Lestia about being safe and well not setting herself up to raped. How did you help someone that didn’t want help? All those times of drilling Adison was now on the other side, she was being drilled. Merlin knew she hadn’t dated seriously since Hogwarts. “Patient!” Adison attempted to correct Lacey once more. The point was mute, but Adison was stubborn. Lovestruck face? Oh no had she been making the face? Adison jumped up on the couch, dropping the pillow to her side. She looked in the mirror that hung to the side of the television. Nothing was wrong with her face? Perhaps, she took it far to literal. Being a healer could do that to somebody. “My face, remains the same. As it always has,” Adison pulled at the side of her saggy eyes. “Perhaps a bit more tired then usual,” Adison turned and looked down at Lacey. “But you’ve seen that before,” Sexual Chemistry? She swore it came with Nate, the ability to say things the way they were. “Sexual chemistry?” Adison questioned her friend. Adison jumped from the couch, barley missing the coffee table with the back of her foot. She was hardly believing all of this. Adison was going into lockdown mood, why? She wasn’t quite sure. Adison did weird things, at weird times and apparently this was going to be one of those weird times. Did she think going off the deep end would convince Lacey that she did not like Felix? Or would it confirm her beliefs. Adison stepped off the couch listening to Lacey’s rant about her liking him it would be okay, with her exceptions and blessings of course. Adison grabbed the bowl of popcorn, toppling several wrappers into it. She was getting into weird denial stage number one. Lacey knew the stages better then Lestia. Lacey did after all live with Adison for almost seven years. “I do NOT, fancy, like, feel sexual chemistry with him!” Adison didn’t shout but her voice was full of concern. Was she now trying to talk herself out of liking him. It was the words ‘hurting you’ used by Lacey that sent fear shivering down Adison’s spine like the moment Lacey knocked on the door. Adison always had problems with relationships. She thought everyone was bound to leave her eventually, that or rip her heart out. One or the other, it was pretty awful feeling it all the time. Did her cover up turn into truth? Was Lacey not even meaning to talking her out of liking or even possibly lov- dating Felix Warden. Adison’s fingers felt clammy, what if this was a set up for the prophet after all? Besides she only had a ‘good’ personality. And she wasn’t super model gorgeous; she was ‘beautiful’ as Lacey had put it. Which meant she was a good best friend. Weird denial stage number one was cleaning. Lately it had been sleeping at work, but she didn’t have that option now. Adison used the bag hanging from the back of her couch that held her previous takeout food, to scoop all the wrappers into it. She disappeared into the kitchen listening to Lacey go on about the fact that she would do it to anyone. Adison’s heart was pounding and her mind whirling around so fast she couldn’t see straight. She chucked the bag of trash onto the ground walking back into the room. She grabbed the wine glass, using a napkin in the other hand to wipe up the small spill. She walked back into the kitchen, she had to avoid Lacey’s eyes that knew all. Lacey would know now from the stages of denial that Adison was scared. Posions, Blood, Pain, Plants, Deatheaters, Snotty Auror members, nothing scared her. But men that attempted to get close to her. Might as well be Freddy coming after her while she was sleeping. If he was quiet enough, patient enough, and charming enough. He would perhaps kill her. Adison grabbed the small dust pan and ran back into the room sweeping cracked off pieces of the chocolate frog. She had flopped down on the couch after her cleaning rampage. She stared at Lacey trying to focus on her words. It was in vain though, she couldn’t comprehend anything that Lacey had just said. Until it drifted in to the F and ended with an X. Felix…Felix Warden. Adison bit down on her lip hard. She turned when Lacey asked if she should cook a meal. Adison’s eyes widened. This was a mental break down that was on the verge of falling like a jenga puzzle before she was put in her new position. This was a huge build up of things all toppling down. “He does NOT need to end up in my ward again!” Adison almost shouted. Stage 2, anger. She bit down on her lip the second it came out. “Sorry Lacey, I didn’t mean t-“ Adison stood back up, she could feel the tears attempting to push their way through her sorry excuse of tear ducts. Adison didn’t cry anymore, it came with the job description. Stage 3, tears. Adison felt one drop, the pressure, the lack of sleep,Bethan, Derek, this new….person. Lacey’s drilling was just what set it off. She finally pushed the last block out of the puzzle. And Adison came tumbling down. Merlin knew Adison should have told her best friends the problems that were eating away at her, but she couldn’t ever bring herself to do it. Adison pulled at the bottom of her curls. She was frustrated, tired, angry, depressed, and ready to curl into bed and fall asleep. Merlin knew she wasn’t about to get off that easy with Lacey. Lacey would definitely question why the Jenga puzzle had slapped her in the face. She thought it was the end of the world her sixth year when what’s his face broke her heart. That was not even preparing her for what was to come. She felt ridiculous, almost bi-polar like. She blamed the lack of sleep, she blamed her job, she didn’t want to blame herself. But she blamed herself. All those things only became because of the person Adison was. She wanted Noelle to be home, so they could all sit on her couch watch ridiculous slasher movies, pig out, and not care about boys. Why did Felix come now. Adison could barley focus. Stage 4, mental shutdown. She stood up from where Lacey had been sitting walking towards the hall. “I don’t want another repeat,” Adison muttered quietly. She didn’t want that ache, that failure feeling, the problems of opening up to men. Lacey of all people could understand that. Perhaps she didn’t remember how her heart had broken at the time she slid her address into Felix’s wallet. Adison walked down the hall into her bed, climbing onto it. The door hanging open, Lacey was bound to follow, just like always. When she was younger she wanted to be older, now that she was older she wished to be younger. Wasn’t that how life just worked?
