HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Early morning Marauder meeting the nerve, Frank loathed the very words. He usually hung out with Lily around this time but she was nowhere to be seen. Therefore Frank did what every other music crazed person would, he packed up his guitar, threw a few notebooks in his knapsack and set off to practice where he wouldn’t have people like Sirius or James making up the words to his latest piece of artwork. Some of those guy didn’t appreciate music like he did, in fact no one really did. If muggles did something right, they certainly did music right. If Frank wasn’t so set on trying to end the war he might have thought of taking a career in music, but he was far too fearful to think of anything but ending the blasted war. His mum would have been ecstatic if he waltzed home one day and told her he was going to be playing for the ballet. She was entitled to dreaming too. Frank yawned then turned down a hall, he peered down a corridor he saw a door he didn’t recognize. Perfect.
Frank couldn’t wait to pull the guitar from his back and pretend like he was back in his bedroom. He could shout at the top of his lungs and no one would be able to judge him. Though he didn’t mind the guys, he usually ended up goofing off with them, but sometimes just sometimes it was nice to actually get some real practice in. He paused at the door listening to see if anyone was inside, when nothing echoed the stone walls he pushed on the handle letting the door fling open. To his satisfaction it was empty and it had a beautiful view of…the quidditch pitch, go figure. Although he did enjoy watching Alice in those skin tight pants they were forced to wear. He didn’t however appreciate James and Sirius in the same pants. He rolled his eyes once pulling the guitar from his back. Frank settled the acoustic beauty against his leg, rolling the knapsack out so he could grab several of the notebooks.
The first notebook was full of rough sketches of chords, and different set pallets. Frank grinned; it had been a while since he pulled these old things out. He flipped through some of the older pages, they were getting dusty from laying on a shelf for too long. He quickly set up his fingers in a major chord. Looking down the page he began plucking out a few lines of the music he had written ages ago. That’s when he noticed an extra notebook lying at the back of the sack. Frank flipped it over in his hand turning a few pages, he settled on one, he felt a smirk fall over his features. It was his first year notebook. He used to stay up late and sing in the common room. He would also be paranoid that someone would hear him, so he left the fire crackling and sang quietly. After reading over a few lines, he was sure glad his lyrics had improved his guitar skill as well. Not to mention the poorly drawn sketches in the corner. ‘James wants the same ol’ red head, Peter mimicking what they said, And Sirius, well he’ll take any girl that gets in bed. Remus always knows just what to say, too bad the others won’t have to pay. Alice Logan is what I lust, Emmeline is a bust. Some of the best friends in the world’ It was amazing how some things never change. Frank rolled his head back once clearing his throat. He pushed the notebook aside and tried remembering one of the older muggle songs he enjoyed so much. Several different bands crossed his mind, than it hit him. Goo Goo Dolls. “Could you whisper in my ear, the things you want to feel, I’ll give you anything to feel it coming; do you wake up on your own wondering where you are? live with all your faults. I want to wake up where you are, I won’t say anything at all so why don’t you slide,” Franks arms paused mid stroke, his voice cutting out for a moment. He dug in the bag for a moment grabbing for the green pick. He put it between his teeth leaning back against the tower wall. Now he wasn’t quite sure what he felt like playing. Goo Goo Dolls was always good, but it wasn’t one of his all time favorites.
Frank flipped through a few more pages in the freshmen notebook. He froze pausing on big scribbled letters that read ‘James’ Song’ Frank couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Oh Lily, if only she knew half of the things that went on behind the scenes. He could picture the night perfectly. ‘Cause I know you really want me, I hear your friends talk about me. So what you trying to do without me, when you got me, when you got me, Hey Juliet, I think your fine, you really blow my mind maybe someday me and you can run away I just want you to know I want to be your Romeo Hey Juliet.’ Oh LMNT, they had no idea how they helped a tiny James understand his future destiny of denial. The next page was tilted some newer songs from the last couple of years. It was a yearbook of music and big memories. Frank sighed pulling the guitar back onto his lap. He stared back over the chords before shoving the notebooks to the side. He scrambled to his converse clad feet, he leaned his back against the wall before looking back towards the pitch. He could make out two girls practicing. It was hard to tell exactly who it was, but it looked a lot like Alice and Emmeline. Frank sighed quietly, when was Alice ever going to get over her precious Slytherin man. He had been waiting for ages now; he almost knew Potter’s pain. Although Alice never exactly denied him quite as many times that Lily did to James. That’s what he wanted to play. Frank turned to look back to the girl who looked like Alice. He propped the guitar against his knees before starting to strum. “One song about a girl, can’t breathe when I’m around her, I wait here every day, in case she’ll scratch the surface, she’ll never notice, I’m not in love, This is not my heart, I’m not going to waste these words about a girl. Last night I knew what to say, but you weren’t there to hear it, these lines, so well rehearsed, tongue tied, and overloaded, you never noticed, I’m not in love, this is not my heart, I’m not going to waste these words about a girl. I’m not in love, this is not your song, and I’m not going to waste these words about a girl. To be loved, what more could you ask for, to be loved, everyone wants to be loved, to be loved, everyone. I’m not in love, this is not my heart, I’m not going to waste these words, I’m not in love, this is not my heart, I’m not going to waste these words about a girl.
Frank froze he heard footsteps nearing his way. He set the guitar down, bending down to pick up the notebooks when he heard the door creek. It could be the wind? Frank didn’t want to take that chance, especially if this possible person just heard him singing. Giving up Frank let go of the notebooks ducking by the wall closet to the door. Hoping the shadows would conceal him. He could hope right. He held his breath; it was the wind, just the wind, right? Frank shook his head looking back towards Alice and Emmeline. Why didn’t he grow up loving Quidditch? He could be out there with them instead of hiding in the shadows from the window with old notebooks and his guit-his guitar. Frank bit down on his lip as he watched his guitar helplessly. Please be the wind.

Natalie sighed heavily. It was late afternoon, the nastiest time of day. She would be lying if she said she was a night owl. Many a times she woke up at five thirty to get ready for the day. The Gryffindor girls who slept around her hated when she would do this because they would have to hear her rustle around. Then of course she showered in the morning and her singing woke up just about everybody in the castle. This to her was actually a very good thing. Early mornings were good for people, waking up at the crack of dawn caused the body to function. By the time classes started Natalie was wide awake and ready to go. Early mornings were the primary cause for her energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. If she woke up even an hour later her schedule would be messed up and that was a disaster waiting to happen. So many were surprised when they found out she was mentally diagnosed with minor obsessive compulsive disorder. It wasn't anything severe, she wouldn't have to be put away for it (which was an excellent thing). Natalie simply couldn't stand things being out of place. Muggles called her massively anal.
Throughout her childhood she learned to control her urges with music. Music was her escape and would continue to be her escape. Many of her friends at Hogwarts didn't understand her love for music. They found it slightly redundant especially the purebloods. Natalie had a firm opinion on the wizarding world, she felt bad for the purebloods. Many muggle borns would give to be a pureblood, but Natale was very happy just being herself. Being a muggle born was not bad actually she thought it was much better. She was able to have an open minded view of the world around her. She also had music. Without music she wouldn't be herself, Natalie functioned because she had music. Music was her friend and would continue to be her friend throughout the rest of her life. Music to Natalie was like a dog to a little child. A companion, a protector, and a best friend.
The boredom of the day and the love of music is what caused her to explore the castle. She new where she was going but she was going to take her sweet time. She had her sheet music in hand (primarily showtunes). She had a special bag for her many pieces of music her array included songs like: What I Did For Love, Maybe This Time, Don't Rain on My Parade, My Man, and many other pieces. She slowly made her way around the castle. She had a place she wanted to go to in mind she just wanted go the longest route possible to take up as much time as she could. Natalie was in a rather lazy mood today and even though music made her happy it also tired her out as well. She was a performer as well as a singer, she was usually exhausted after singing. Natalie threw her heart and soul into her performances like her life depended on it.
She finally found the place she had in mind. She usually came to this particular Tower when she was bored and lonely. Many didn't know where it was so she could be alone and be able to sing without being bothered. She slowly inched towards the door and pushed open the door even slower. She stepped in, oblivious to the other person in the room, and shut the door behind her. She slowly turned around and jumped at the sight of Frank. "Holy mother you scared me!" She said aghast. After her minor heart attack she laughed and took a seat by Frank. He was a good friend who shared her love of music. The only friend who shared her love of music. It was something special they shared.

HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank froze, the door slammed open. He watched as the beautiful young woman stepped into the room. Just as Frank breathed a small sigh of relief and stepped from behind the door she turned and shouted. Frank twitched backing away just in case she had her wand handy. Frank laughed sliding down against the wall as Natalie realized it was just him. He leaned his head against the stones trying to come to grip on his laughter, though he wasn’t having much luck. “I scared you? I thought you were just about to hex me,” Frank shook his head, he then froze. Did Natalie hear him singing?
They both knew songs were the key to thoughts and expressed people’s feelings then words did. Frank quickly pushed himself to his knees looking towards the pitch. The two figures were gone, well at least they were gone. He then turned back to Natalie. “What are you doing up here?” Frank turned back to his guitar that he had left in plain sight pulling it to his side.
“You, didn’t happen to hear me, did you?” Frank asked biting down on his lip. If anyone heard him he was glad it was Natalie, then again that could get him into a lot of trouble. Natalie was a friend of Alice’s and knew of her constant obsession with the ‘bad boys’, which Frank certainly wasn’t. Frank hid his feelings for Alice scared that he would ruin their friendship. He didn’t want to mirror Potter. It took Potter seven years to get Lily just to look at him. Therefore he would hide the best he could until Alice decided to give him a small glance. You didn’t have to tell him he wasn’t a glorious bad boy, he wasn’t even a troublemaker. He was…well Frank. Frank was then distracted by the lovely pieces in Natalie’s hands. “Ah ha! What is this?” He shouted grabbing for the music. Natalie had arranged several different show tunes pieces. Frank smiled. He wasn’t one to get up in front of an audience like Natalie, though he did enjoy company.
“Maybe this time?” Frank questioned. “This song is so…depressing,” Frank quirked an eyebrow towards Natalie. Had she been keeping something from him? Frank was definitely all of the girls best friends. He got along with most girls, he called it a unique talent. Though with the guys it wasn’t so unique. He was often criticized of being permanently stuck in the friend zone. What did that even mean? Just because girls didn’t flaunt after him like he was a piece of meat he was declared a friends only person. He always knew what was going on with them, which made the guys come begging with info. He usually only helped James out. It was because he felt downright sorry for the guy. Lily was so hard on him. Frank was lucky he was able to see the real James every once in a while. James tried way to hard when it came to Lily. Frank continued to tell him if he laid of the fake Sirius face he may just woo Lily one day. Though, the day James listened to Frank over Sirius. Alice would drop into his arms.
“What’s been on your mind Natalie Giles. No one carries around Maybe This Time and Don’t Rain on my Parade together unless something is bothering them.” Frank replied shifting through various sheets of music. He paused tossing a glance back at the notebooks. Well hopefully he didn’t flip the situation. If she looked in those he’d be in for a world of explaining. He didn’t really feel like ruining his friendship for a fantasy relationship. He would get over Alice eventually. By Friday he should be over her. He’d sing away the pain, maybe talk the guys into sneaking off the grounds for a firewhiskey. They always tried to at least. “You can tell me Natalie,” Natalie was always one for talking, or sharing life stories. Along with Frank’s open talk range with his best girls that were friends, came the silence. He always promised if they talked to him, he wouldn’t spread it around. Well most girls that was true, but Lily wouldn’t mind someday.

Natalie smiled brightly at her good friend. He must have been afraid it was a Slytherin or someone who didn't understand music. That was one hundred percent understandable, Natalie was already on bad terms with the lovely Slytherins of Hogwarts if they caught her singing they would probably tear her to pieces. She laughed at his comment. "Trust me if it hadn't been you I probably would have hexed." She paused for a moment and raised her brow. "You are lucky that I saw you before I whipped the wand out." She was really good with hexes and charms they were her strengths. Natalie was talented in spells to a certain degree she wasn't good enough to become an auror though because she was not consistent. While she could cast a mean Transfiguration spell she couldn't brew a potion to save her life.
There were two reasons Natalie liked to come up here. She liked that hardly anyone knew the place existed and she liked the fact she could see the Quidditch Pitch. "Well, this is my hiding place. I like to come here to sing, do homework, or just chill and watch the Quidditch players, that aren't me, practice."
Natalie raised her brow yet again, this was a signature look for her, and crossed her arms before smiling mischievously. "Hear what?" She said teasingly. She hadn't heard him but that didn't mean she couldn't have a little fun teasing him. Natalie was a huge tease in many, many, many, many, many ways. Most of the time it was innocent sarcasm but sometimes she flirted around. It was very rare she flirted around but when the mood hit her she did. She was caught a bit off guard when Frank grabbed her sheet music. She rolled her eyes and laughed as he eyed through them. Frank in her were different genres of music but they like music nonetheless. He wrote his own songs, she sung other people's songs in her own way. Frank was a shy singer and Natalie's logic was the more audience the happier she was.
Natalie raised the brow in return and grabbed her sheet music back. "Of course its depressing its set during the Nazi occupation!" She said in defense. Frank was a half right, she was sort of keeping something from him. It was more of a half-truth she was keeping. She had had that messy breakup with Nathanial had affected her more than she put on. Many figured she had gotten over it quickly because she had a bright and bubbly disposition all the time but this wasn't true. Natalie didn't like getting her girl friends involved with her love life, even after breakups. Most of the time she didn't talk out her problems but she sang them.
Natalie bit her lip and pushed a lock of her thick brown hair behind her ear. "I don't know I guess I'm still a bit angry about Nathaniel and I." She said crossing her arms again. She made it sound like it was not a big deal. Her and Barbra had so many things in common the voice, the big nose, and the acting.

HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank raised his hands in defeat. He was extremely glad that she had seen him before hexing him like he was some rotten slytherin that dated alice. “Yeah, trust me. I’m glad you recognized one of your most amazing friends” Frank replied sticking his tongue out just to encourage the comment. So someone had already claimed it as their hiding place? Bummer, it was a nice spot. Although if he asked Natalie at the right moment, with the right tone of voice he may be able to persuade her to share. He could bring up their love of music, the Slytherins hatred of muggle anything and then plead for her to take mercy upon his deprived hidden artist. Then she said it, watch the other Quidditch players. Frank shrank a little in his place. He really needed to find something to drown out the Alice of everything people said these days. Frank has to use every bone in his body to prevent him turning to see if Alice had flew back into sight. “Ah, I see.” Frank mumbled quietly. “Well, you know Quidditch and I don’t get along very well,” Frank commented before shifting to a more comfortable position.
Frank bit down on his bottom lip. He hated when people heard him sing. It made him embarrass, boys were meant to sing they were meant to play quidditch and enjoy a good battle of wizard chess, and woo girls. Frank found flying to be difficult, he hated chess, and he wasn’t exactly wooing a lot of girls lately. Failure of a man if you asked some of his better friends. “You didn’t…” Frank finished staring Natalie down. His palms started sweating and the nervous feeling that was ever so present as of late returned to the pit of his stomach. Frank didn’t exactly believe her. “What song?” Frank questioned. Natalie had the best ear in the world for tone and pitch, she would be able to at least hum the song back to him if she had heard him. Nervous was exactly the feeling anymore, was there a tad bit of anxious lurking in the deep? He wasn’t quite sure. Frank laughed quietly to himself, she was now just insulting his musicality. He shrugged his shoulders as he got the small lecture about the Nazi Occupation.
“You know Natalie, one day I hope to read a book all about your journey through music, and the backgrounds of every song,” Sarcasm was not evident. Frank knew there was more, he considered Natalie as one of his better friends, they connected on several levels some of the others never did. He grinned as she began to open up. He knew it. “So, you’re missing him still?” He cringed at the word still. He was usually super careful at his wording when it came to Natalie. He knew she was surrounded by a bunch of girls who didn’t understand what was so special about the one person. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. Just surprised me I guess. I know what’s it like to miss something. At least you miss something you had,” Frank rolled his eyes once. He was sounding more pathetic by the minute. Frank watched Natalie cross her arms and pull the infamous pouty face. Frank laughed grabbing one of the hands that was crossed. “Don’t let him get you down. Just smile.” Frank didn’t know him personally but he knew anyone that broke Natalie’s heart didn’t deserve to be known. He grinned once more. “Explain?” Frank offered. He knew he was most likely asking for a rampage, he didn’t mind.

She snorted rather loudly at his next comment. She found it rather funny, perhaps she was a terrible influence on him. Little by little he was starting to turn more and more into herself. "Narcissistic much?" She said rather sarcastically. She did have to give it to him though, when she was around him she could be herself. Frank was definitely in her top ten if not her top five. She loved her ladies but Frank was just something else. They had a really special bond when it came to the music. She hadn't met anyone who shared the passion almost equally with her. It was actually sort of refreshing to have someone actually understand her. They did, however, have their differences. Natalie was a Quidditch star as well as a music freak. Frank despised Quidditch. That was one conversation she had to save for when she was around the girls. She nodded slowly when he said he hated Quidditch. "I know you do which is why I'm not inflicting you with it too much." She said gently nudging him in the arm.
She liked making him nervous it was rather entertaining actually. She did it a lot to her girls--that was even more funny. She was definitely different from the rest of Hogwarts. Some told her she was far too muggle for her own good. "Wanna bet?" She said pulling a bluff. Then he asked her to hum a bit of the song. She smiled sadistically and got really close to him, staring him straight into the eye. She took a deep breath and slowly started into the first verse of the song she had in mind. "Ooooooh I'm a Lumberjack and I'm OK I sleep all night and I work all day. I cut down trees, I eat my lunch, I go to the lavatory, on Wednesdays I go shopping and have buttered scones for tea." She backed away laughing. "No I didn't hear you unfortunately."
She raised her brow and crossed her arms. "Oh you will most definitely." She said with equal sarcasm. Natalie planned on having a tony under her belt in about twenty years. She had her whole life plan mapped out. "I have it all mapped out Frank I'm gonna break out with Fanny Brice and then I'm auditioning for this up and coming production I heard they're gonna do soon called Les Miserables." Now she was looking out into the middle of nowhere. "And I'm going to win a tony award for that." She was hitting him in the stomach now in excitement. "And then I'm going to get every single role I've ever wanted and be world renown." She calmed herself down and turned her attention back to Frank. She frowned slightly. "Yes." She muttered. She laughed at his facial expressions. "Hey, don't beat yourself up for the wording I've known you long enough to know what you mean." Then he asked her to explain and that she really didn't want to do. "I don't know I really don't wanna rain on your parade--no pun intended."

HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I learned from the best,” Frank replied grinning towards Natalie. He nodded, at least she tried to talk about other things besides Quidditch. He did give her that much credit. He shrugged his shoulders, once up then down before laughing along with her. “I know, trust me I wished I enjoyed it as much as you guys did. My first year, the broom and I didn’t get along. To tell you the truth I’m quite scared of those things, they have minds of their own! A hidden agenda, well if you ask me there no good so playing a game with them is simply out of the question I prefer my feet to stay planted on the ground,” Frank finished patting the ground next to him. He shrank back into position when Natalie ran her favorite line. Wanna bet? He bit down on his lip, did he want to bet? Not in particular. Frank froze as Natalie leaned closer towards him. He could feel the heat radiating from her skin. He’d never noticed how pretty her eyes were, or the way her bangs fell next to the start of her brow line. Woah, this was Natalie. Frank shook his head.
He watched as Natalie slowly parted her lips and began a small tune. He then groaned as she began a whole different song. Frank fell onto his side from the small panic attack he was about to have. He was so close to having a nervous meltdown it hardly felt real. “Now that, that was just cruel Ms. Giles” Frank stated using a hand to push himself back up. He was right it was just plain and cruel of her to play him like that. “Good” Was all he had to say for himself when she admitted she hadn’t heard him singing. The song was good, though there was always a purpose behind the music and he didn’t care to explain to Natalie why he was singing such a dorky high school love song. Franks eyes widened as Natalie then busted into her whole life within thirty seconds. His head whirled around once trying to grasp everything she had just said.
“Wow, you have some pretty high goals there Natalie,” Frank would never put it past her .She was always one to succeed in what she did, she was brilliant, beautiful, and well the girl could simply sing and act her way out of a casket at her own funeral if she really wanted too. “I guess it’s like what they always say. Aim for the moon, even if you miss you fall among the stars.” Frank contemplated the way for a few minutes. He shook his head before looking back to Natalie. “Although I don’t think you’ll be falling among the stars. I have every feeling that you’ll make it and make something big out of yourself. You always do well with what you put your mind too.”
Frank could just imagine Natalie walking up to a small stand in front of millions of people taking a weird shaped trophy in hand before bursting into an acceptance speech she prepared when she was a 3rd year. “A tony award, I can just see it now” Frank finished. Frank rolled his eyes, of all the things Natalie didn’t want to rain on his parade about it was another dude. “If you want to keep it locked up inside fine. Just don’t come crying to me when you have gray hair and a lot of facial wrinkles. I’m not sure many agents that will sponsor a wrinkled faced woman” Frank replied grinning towards her.

"Man I must be a REALLY good teacher than." She said with a wink. Natalie was what one would call a 'fake self centered person' she liked to pretend to be selfish just for laughs. Normally she really did care about other's feelings and would never be mean if it was to really hurt someone's feelings. So many people--Slytherins--didn't get that she was selfish for laughs. Slytherins figured she was superficial and really obnoxious. To a certain extent she could agree with them but her true friends, Frank being one of them, knew the real her and she was neither superficial or obnoxious. "Is that why you don't like Quidditch?" She said with a laugh. She raised her brow and crossed her arms. "I know you and brooms don't get along but I never knew you were actually afraid of them." She wasn't really making fun of him. "I should teach you! I'm a trustworthy person maybe I can help you get over your ridiculous fear." Natalie liked helping people especially when it was with one of her strong points. If her Broadway aspirations didn't come true Natalie would probably open up a shop to give voice lessons, she adored teaching people to use their natural talent.
Nat liked making people uncomfortable. Some people found that statement strange. Uncomfortable really wasn't the best word. She didn't like making people too uncomfortable she just liked coming off as mysterious and she especially like people not knowing. Natalie never gave a straight answer. "Oh I know, I'm just that mean." She stated with a big smile. She had heard Frank sing perhaps once maybe twice she would have liked to hear him again and perhaps do a duet with him. "No not good I want to hear you sing again and better yet I want to do a duet with you sometime soon." She said with a charming smile. She loved doing duets especially with someone who could actually sing. She knew Frank could actually sing plus he played guitar so they would have instrumental music. She smiled at his surprised look after she discussed her life plans. the one thing she loved more than not giving a straight answer was spilling her life dreams.
"Ditto to that Mr. Longbottom." They were really high goals her parents thought they were crazy as did her close friends. She hadn't come across one person who actually believed she could do it. She was caught a bit off guard when Frank said he believed she could do it. She smiled brightly and gave him a friendly hug. "You know this is why I love you you are always so optimistic." She said with all honesty. Natalie was the same way she always looked on the bright side of life. She had to after all she was going to be dirt poor for the beginning of her career.
She nodded energetically when he said he could see her with a Tony. Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, she said the word five times a day to herself to keep her motivated. She had many motivation techniques, running, singing, and of course the infamous monologue. Many thought she was crazy for talking to herself in the mirror. It was a great way to practice for the big time. "I guess I just thought he was the one I guess I was wrong but hey we're only in the seventh year." She shrugged. "So how's it going chasing Alice?" She asked curiously. Alice was one of her close friends and so was Frank she would love for them to be together. The irony of it all would just drive her insane.

HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank’s eyes widened in concern. “Me?” Frank couldn’t fathom the idea of getting back on a broom after nearly killing himself on the last broom. Mum made him write I will not ride a broom without permission a million times on a piece of paper. First year it was a disaster his next attempt landed him with a broken arm. “I’ll hurt something, I’ll break something,” Frank couldn’t help but wonder what exactly he would break, then cringed at the thought. “I’ll break you!” He mumbled. He wasn’t quite sure how, but it WAS Frank on a broom, anything could happen. Frank was a little taken back when Natalie said she wanted to duet with him. Was she serious? He felt his palms grow a little sweaty. “Uhm. Well, I’m flattered Natalie really, but what would we sing?” Frank noticed the very different ranges of music they listened to. “You’re not into my muggle music scene,” Frank replied wondering what it would sound like if Natalie broke out into an indie song, better yet a scream power girl rock band song. What hung around in the middle of show tunes and indie? That’s when it hit him across the head. “Have you listened to The Beatles?” He questioned. The Beatles were a power of both. Maybe it’s what the two of them needed. A Duet together? He snickered at the thought; anyone listening would obviously favor the beautiful and talented Natalie over Frank’s voice. Frank smiled, he loved receiving Natalie hugs. Frank sighed, all of his friends that were girls suffered from one problem, and it started with a G, B, or M. Guy, Boy, Male syndrome. “I see, it seems were all having problems,” Frank sighed when Natalie moved on to an even rougher topic. Alice. Frank shifted and looked back up to Natalie. “I could sing that girl a ballad in front of her face, and she’d clap and walk away. Or even worse, run back to that—“ Frank cringed. He didn’t want to think about him. He got so jealous. Frank sighed under his breath getting back to his feet returning the sheet music to Natalie. He crossed his arms starring down to her. “To be honest Nat, I think I’m giving up,”
Frank didn’t want to hear that, he didn’t want to admit that it came out of his throat. But it was seeming that it was all there was left to do. “She’s told me time after time, Nat. James has finally wont Lily over. I mean I’ve been chasing Alice almost just as long.” Frank sighed sitting back down, folding his long legs Indian style. “I’m not even as much as a bloke head as James, but that’s my problem,” Frank sighed tracing one of the bricks on the ground with his index finger. He then tried to remember the word he learned from the muggle song he just listened to. “ I just want to be bad,” Frank replied. What if he dyed his hair blonde, changed his style and changed his name. Maybe he could start all over and win Alice over that way. He tried to think of the other word that was mentioned in the song. “I am lacking a ‘bad ass’ gene.” Frank murmured. “I don’t know Nat,” Frank mumbled looking back up to her. “maybe I don’t even want Alice…maybe I just want somebody,”
Frank paused, he thought of a song that tied in between the two’s ranges. “Can anybody find me somebody to love. Each morning I get up I die a little, can barely stand on my feet, take a look in the mirror and cry, Merlin what’re you doing to me?” Frank decided to add a little theater in there just for Natalie’s sake. He grabbed at his hair pulling at the ends, kicking the ground. Then shoving his hands into his pockets. He paused, waiting for Natalie to finish. So maybe he did die a little every morning he woke up. Well at least Natalie knew what he was saying, and both of them enjoyed expressing themselves through song. This could work. This was a song that said it all, and if another song came along that fit him better, then strike him dead right now.

Natalie narrowed her brows. "No, Hitler." She said sarcastically. She hit him over the head with her sheet music playfully. "Of course you, you cutie." She giggled her cute schoolgirl giggle just for laughs. Anyone who knew Natalie understood she was far from a cute schoolgirl. And then he went off on one of his worried tangents. Natalie just crossed her arms and rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Now, now you big silly its almost impossible for you to break me." She pondered for a bit. "And if you do...actually...break me," She smiled and circled him like the sheriffs did to the bad guys. "I'll break you." She cackled evilly and then placed a quick kiss on Frank's cheek. Nat noted the problem he brought up. The both of them did have very different tastes in music but despite the fact they enjoyed different genres they still shared common ground. "That's true but I'm pretty sure we have something we both like."
"Yeah, who hasn't listened to The Beatles?" She realized her mistake and made sure to hang her head in shame for it. "I forgot we're in Hogwarts." She mumbled. She listened intently to Frank. They appeared to share the exact same opinion on Alice's love life. "OH MY GOD I KNOW!" She exclaimed rather loudly. "I want to tar and feater every single Slytherin male." Natalie laughed at the thought. "Then maybe they won't be as attractive. Maybe they'll be too chicken to talk to her anymore." It was a terrible analogy but it made her burst out into an outrageous fit of laughter. "Sweetie, don't give up. She'll come around...I think." She pat Frank on the back, wishing she hadn't brought up Alice. "You can sing me a song, I won't clap and walk away."
Natalie rolled her eyes when Frank brought up Lily and James. "I can't believe Lily is actually going at it with that, that, that pig of a Gryffindor." She glared into nothingness. "I swear if he even lays a hand on her I'm going to put him through ever singly cruel and unusual punishment listed under the constitution...including History of Magic class." Her voice was heated and her fists clenched. She almost forgot of Frank's presence. She was brought back into reality when Frank explained that he wanted to change himself. "You are not thinking of changing your hair color, name, or disposition." She said stubbornly. "I won't allow it Frankie. If Alice won't take you the way you are someone will." Natalie didn't like when people changed just because of a girl or a boy. "One thing I've learned from my years of training is individuality. Frank, it is the most important thing out there and if you change yourself just to get Alice it really isn't you getting her. Think about it Frank don't you want a girl who'll take you for you?"
Natalie smiled when Frank broke out into one of her favorite crowd pleaser's of all time. She cleared her throat when Frank stopped for her to start. "I have spent all my years believing you but I just can't get no relief, Lord! Somebody, somebody! Can anybody find me somebody to love?" She smiled as she bounced around him to the beat of the song. Frank had an amazing voice. She had heard it before but now it was something else. Natalie was slowly starting to see her good friend in a different light.

HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank couldn’t help but smile as Natalie laughed. The girl was gorgeous, any man would be happy to take her single title away. Although Natalie had expectations that hardly any of the idiots or bastards here could meet. “I wouldn’t doubt for a second that you would break me,” Frank murmured. His smile still held on his face. He wouldn’t mind being broken by Natalie, as long as he would deserve it if he had broken Natalie. He felt a small kiss place on his cheek and his nervous system shut down. What…was that….wonderful glorious feeling of warmth? Frank cocked an eyebrow when Natalie asked who hadn’t listened to the Beatles. Who had listened to the beatles at this school? Within seconds she was slapping her fore head and she concluded what he expected her to. “Yes, Muggles have music down to a key,” Frank replied, he gave that much to them. Frank’s eyes widened when Natalie exclaimed that she knew. He burst into a small fit of laughter when she said she wanted to tar and feather the Slytherins. “If you do m’lady. I will buy you a round,” Frank replied quirking his eyebrow. He couldn’t believe she had said that, then again Alice would never learn what was bad for her.
He felt Natalie’s hand on his back and he swore this was something new altogether. Her touch did something to him. He smiled towards her, she was always so kind to him. Especially since she knew her best friend was the cause of his heartache. Frank twitched, he would not want to be James around Natalie at Quidditch Practice. He chuckled to himself for a moment looking back to her. Even though James was currently avoiding Frank like he was the black plague he felt bad for the guy. “James…loves Lily. Trust me I wouldn’t have helped him so much if I didn’t believe that.” Frank confirmed with a nod. He truly knew James would do anything to win Lily over, even as much as sink as low to ask for help from Frank. That took a lot of guts for a guy, and the way James talked about her, passed the brotherly test. He swore if he heard of them snogging it up in the Head Tower he would be the first one to remove James Potter’s manhood. He could guarantee everyone else standing right behind him ripping his limbs apart. For James safety he didn’t mention that to Natalie.
Frank could have probably cried if Natalie had left the second she said the things he longed to hear for so long. He wanted to feel accepted, for his music, his art, his…well his differences from every other guy. He didn’t want to blend in but afraid he may have to. Natalie spoke clearly without a doubt in her mind, that she would never want to see him change. At the end she confirmed that someone else would find him and like him for who he was if Alice hadn’t. “Of course, I do…” Frank replied with a nod. His voice was not much more then a whisper. He wanted someone that would enjoy the bracelet he made them, who wouldn’t make fun of him. He wanted someone not like Alice. Was he mad at Alice? He was beginning to think the emptiness in his heart was being replaced as anger. He had tried for so long, wasted many girls date offers to try and keep himself open. By Merlin he hadn’t even been kissed yet. He tried so hard, and yet Alice was running around with everyone and their cousin. Literally. Frank bit down on his lip. He couldn’t take feeling this sad, or angry.
He couldn’t help himself, singing helped. It was therapy to him. And after what Natalie said how could he deny her a duet? Her voice, her voice was brilliant. It sent goosebumps down his arms every time he heard her sing. He stood after his rather theatrical performance. He extended a hand towards her, taking her hand in his spinning her closer to him, his other hand taking hers. He had in fact danced before, and he knew Natalie couldn’t turn down a performance. “I work hard every day of my life, I work till I ache in my bones, At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own—I get down on my knees--,” Frank’s voice cut off softly, letting Natalie finish off the verse. Her hands were warm in his, her heart fluttered. Could he possibly have been missing something in front of his eyes the whole time. He twirled her once more, pulling her even closer. Hazel eyes looking down into hers, a half smile inching it’s way onto his face. This was the first time Frank felt…remotely happy in a long time. Natalie brought it, someone who possibly liked him, for who he was. Goofy Frank and all. Frank’s feet moved slowly, carrying Natalie to sway in the music within their heads that they had created. It was…perfect, except the woman of his dreams was now a brunette and he was also still…a brunette. He didn’t have to change. Not one bit.

Natalie laughed. She was a tough girl most of the boys wouldn't doubt she could or would break them. She didn't like to hold back either if she was going to be bad she was going to be very bad. Nat would be lying if the kiss she planted on Frank's cheek meant nothing. She felt a spark of warmth that was a bit, well, unusual. Even when she was with her previous suitor she didn't feel warmth quite like what she had just felt. "I agree, the musicians here just don't get it." If she didn't have her Streisand she'd die. Barbra was her idol in many different ways. She was a firecracker, a comedian, a strong woman, and a hell of a performer as well as singer. She smiled brightly when Frank said he'd buy her a round if she did what she was longing to. "Well then you can make that a date because by the end of our year here I'll have done it."
Natalie nodded. She knew that James really did care for Lily and to some extent she believed Lily cared for James. "I know...but I mean now Lily and I can't joke about his immaturity." She said honestly. That was food for their deep friendship aside from the fact she could crack muggle jokes and she understood them. "I just hope he doesn't change his views because if he does I'll be the first in line to scalp him. Heck I'll consider the carcass a trophy if I actually get to do it." Of course she was joking...maybe.
Natalie smiled at Frank's response. "Good." She said brightly. She was a clown, she was sarcastic as heck, she was bitterly honest, but Natalie was also extremely compassionate and looked out for her friends. She wasn't catty with her friends, she never understood the motive behind backstabbing a valued relationship. Many were surprised by that. Many of the Slytherins who hate her guts often made false accusations about her being generic and superficial. They were very false Natalie was the most genuine and honest person in the castle. What she was saying to Frank was both of those things. Natalie also believed Frank was what Alice needed. That didn't stop Natalie from wanting Frank for herself. She hadn't pursued him because of that one fact. Natalie had been caught between a rock and a hard place for years.
Their voices blended together perfectly and she was caught breathless when Frank twirled her in perfect choreography. Natalie could feel her walls she had spent years building to block Frank out crumble. For the first time in her Hogwarts career she was thinking of herself and not her friends. They had chemistry and a stable friendship. Natalie looked for both of those things when contemplating her feelings for someone.

HEY DARLING, I HOPE YOU'RE GOOD TONIGHT and I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank couldn’t help but smiling listening to her. Everything made him smile, her power. She was always super confident in everything she did. Her singing, her sport, her boys. Natalie was always cheerful, and when she wasn’t she found a way or something else to be cheerful about. She had a mean streak anyone knew that. But the bloke deserved it. He grinned as she mentioned that he would be owing her a round by the end of the year. He didn’t doubt it, and he hoped that Natalie did get around to actually doing so. He couldn’t wait for the day where he could cross his arms and stare that bastard in the face. Hopefully the bastard couldn’t stare him back because the tar would be burning his eyes out of their sockets. And it would be painful, very painful. Perhaps Frank would knee him in the groin for all the years he made his life miserable. He laughed out loud when Natalie complained about James ever changing his views. “I’m not sure you’ll ever have to worry about that, love” Frank replied, the corners of his lips forming upwards into a half smirk.
‘Good’ He smirked. She wanted him to stay the same. Merlin knew how long he wanted to hear that. Of course he wanted to hear Alice say that. His thoughts drifted to the pond. He watched as she laughed at him for painting, making fun of how she wouldn’t like the rocks. Even Natalie would have made a joke about keeping a rock perfectly safe for him. Alice, just didn’t work like that. He bit down on his lip trying to push the blonde from his mind. When he spun Natalie, not only did she not sing back, her body language implied that she perhaps liked this almost as much as he was. Perhaps he had been blind? Bloody hell, was he falling for Natalie Dawn Giles? The woman was beautiful, gorgeous, with a brilliant personality and singing voice. Had he been a candidate the whole time? His eyes watched her, she didn’t reply the next verse. The awkward silence between them, wasn’t exactly awkward. Frank cleared his voice, the new song coming to his mind was a bit daring. And it was in fact from the Beatles who Natalie so willingly stated she knew.
Frank twirled Natalie out once, bringing her slowly around once so her back was to his front. Letting her arms stayed wrap. His left hand holding hers. Which looked like a gentle hug, Frank pulled her closer to him, swaying back and forth. Why did this feel so perfect? Frank leaned closer to her ear. “If I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true? And help me understand, ‘cause I’ve been in love before, And I found out love was more, than just holding hands” Frank tightened his hand on hers. What had been bothering him before this moment? His mind was cloudy, he could only think about the girl in his arms. She accepted him, she loved to hear him sing, she didn’t want him to change. She liked him for wimpy frank and not buff frank. Natalie, actually didn’t think he was the one to catch her when she fell. She knew he would catch her when she fell. “If I give my heart to you, I must be sure, from the very start, that you would love me more than her,” Frank’s voice fell softly. He used the right hand to brush some of the brunette locks of her over her shoulder.
“If I trust in you, oh please, Don’t run and hide, if I love you too, oh please, Don’t hurt my pride like her, ‘cause I couldn’t stand the pain, And I would be sad if our new love was in vain,” Frank slowly left Natalie spin out of his grip. Lacing his fingers into hers, slowly pulling her closer to him. Hazel orbs meeting hers. He couldn’t believe he was so blind. “So I hope you see that I, would love to love you, And that she will cry, When she learns we are two, cause I couldn’t stand the pain, and I would be sad if our new love was In vain, “ Frank leaned closer to Natalie. His eyes memorizing hers. His eyes gently closed, he couldn’t help this feeling. It was brand new, he had never felt this before. “So I hope you see that I , would love to love you, and that she will cry when she learns we are two.” Frank doubted Alice would ever cry about him being taken, she might feel relief knowing he wouldn’t be bothering her as much. But for some reason, the pain that it usually stung, wasn’t stinging. In fact he felt warm. Frank leaned closer, his left hand falling at the mid of her back. The right taking her chin in hand, slowly frank pressed his lips against hers. He lingered for a moment before pulling away. “If I fell in love with you….” Frank finished softly. He brushed Natalie’s bangs from her eyes, a half smile inching it’s way across his face. Not only was this feeling new, that was Frank Blaine Longbottom’s first kiss. As a seventh year Gryffindor boy, he finally had his first kiss. And it was not with Alice, and yet, it was okay. Everything felt okay, actually better then okay. It was great.
