Remus had hidden himself away in the Trophy Room. No one ever came here. Only curious first years with hope in their eyes, gazing at the trophies wishing their names could one day be etched upon them ever bothered. Their curfew had passed. For others it reminded them too much of the punishment of cleaning them by hand. It took several hours: Remus should know. He had cleaned them all at least 6 times in his stay at Hogwarts. Each time he had he could not regret the reason why he was sent there, but only once, had he been caught doing something else. He still chuckled about being punished for a lesser crime. To this day he wasn't sure how McGonagol managed to caught him setting up a paint ball trap (how very muggle of him it had been) and then Peeves had to set it off. Fortunately she escaped without a splash of bright colour but he had been sentenced to imediate cleaining of the trophy room which had unfortunately, must like himself, been scathed by the flying paint. In too good spirits to care he managed to get himself into doing the entire room and not just a section like she had planned. It had dampened his spirits a little, but they remained high for the previous plan had gone off without a hitch. Even James and Sirius remained proudly pleased of their accomplishment. The Deputy Headmistress never did catch them for the higher grading prank. Eluding the authorities had always been a bit of a buzz for the four boys. They had learned never to do a prank unless the punishment was worth it: not getting caught was even sweeter. It was during those times he realised that here was one of the perfect little hide-aways int he Castle. It wasn't too isolated, but enough so that conversations could be held without being overhead. Things could be done without being seen. Remus Lupin had once planned a prank in this very room. he had stayed there for hours without anyone even walking passed. It was good to work uniterrupted by friends and over-curious prank mates who's excitement would have put him off. They would have changed things, no crime of course, but change would have meant it was far more complicated than it should have been. Why make a prank harder than it had to be? It was perfectly adequate and satisfying the easier way then that was the way it should be done. No Remus did not fear getting caught. He ws just practical. if his head told him that another way was better then that was the way he was inclined towards. It was such a shame Sirius didn't think so. James didn't think so. Sometimes their eyes were far bigger than their stomachs. Pace yourself, Remus thought. Slow and steady, as the muggles would say. If only slow and steady wasn't so boring eh? Sometimes doing it all haphazard was the only way to have fun. Remus had learned practical is not always best. The trophy room would not judge. There were no portraits here to spread word and gossip amongst themselves. There was only shiny relics, testements to the past. The room was littered with history. Reminders. Memories laced into the gold, silver and bronze. There was even a brass one in the corner. Remus believed the story went something along the lines of the school losing a lot of money due to those damn witch hunts taking place in the muggle realm. Brass was the best they could do. Brass, silver, bronze and gold held no eyes in their bodies and for that Remus was thankful. He couldn't bare the thought of being watched right now. Carefully he spread out his pictures Frank had encouraged him to draw. Frank never clapped eyes on these ones. No one did. They were for REmus's eyes only and he couldn't help but think that Frank was both wrong, and right. He was right because when he drew, it was better. It indeed was like setting his emotions down on parchment, but the ink gave it life. The ink, in slick black, scratchy and thin gave it a reality to attack him with. They were no longer inside his head. His life, his memories were staring him in the face and forcing him to see. To feel. The recall the bitterness of thsoe emotions thick on his palatte. Frank was wrong. It the long term the pictures didn't make it better but Remus knew he wouldn't stop. That moment of peace and clarity, like the one he had felt out in the storm was a precious passing of peace. He could not ever give it up. But the pictures were ugly. Frank only ever saw ones of happiness, or sadness. He didn' see the series he had done on the bitter twisted moon, glaring from her highest heavens, pulling him apart from the inside. He didn't see the twisted image of Sirius Black, as Black and dark as his name suggested. He didn't see the other where they were facing one another, Remus's eyes filled with fear and tears, Sirius a liar, a traitor, wand in hand. How could he like the boy so much, but be terrified of him? One image of Sirius had a jagged Why? screeching across it. Remus couldn't recall ever doing it. Then there were the images of himself - both human, part human and as a wolf. They betrayed Remus's inner self-image and it was not a pretty one. He did not consider himself good looking, or even close. He did not consider himself human anymore for the world kept telling him he wasn't. Sirius had told him he wasn't. Remus looked down at his most recent: all three boys eyes were covered, whilst remus's mouth was. They didn't see, they couldn't see and he couldn't speak. There was much he wanted to say but how? how could he face Sirius? How could he tell James? how could he drag poor Peter into the tangled mess? He sat alone, the drawings scattered, a new piece of parchment before him, ink and quill at hand. There was more to draw, more to get out, more to see.[/ul][/blockquote] TAG: MARISSA - LILY WORDS: 1000 LYRICS: HAPPY NOW - TAKE THAT NOTES: HEEEE XD

DONT WANNA HEAR YOUR SAD SONG DON'T WANNA FEEL YOUR PAIN Lily Evans was on her traditional rounds. Well, okay. That was her excuse. She didn't have much else to do, and her friends and James were at Quidditch practice. In reality, she was just wandering aimlessly around the hallways. But she was Head Girl so she didn't exactly think she could get in trouble. Oh well. There wasn't much else to do, so why not say that she was on her rounds? It's not like she had caused enough trouble in the past to make it seem suspicious. If that had been the case, they would not have made her a prefect, much less Head Girl.
Lily wandered through the library. Lily wandered through the entrance floor. Lily wandered through the outside grounds. Lily wandered everywhere in the school. She saw groups of friends hanging out together, some doing some schoolwork, some not. Just by looking at some, she could tell they were starting mischief. She sighed at that. Ah. She mentally decided she would let the heads of their houses and professors handle that. She didn't exactly want to worry about negative aspects like that.
Ah, that and the war.
The war. The war that would drive her crazy. The war that would worry her to no end. The war that - in truth - scared her. She was scared for everything. She was scared for the sake of the magical world. She was scared for her friends. She was scared for her family. She was scared for James. She was scared for his friends. The war was the main thing right now. Mostly everyone was worried about it. Unless they were well-respected purebloods who worshipped the Dark Lord.
Her mood fell majorly. She wasn't bored anymore. She was a bit depressed. She had that sinking feeling in her stomach that made her feel like bursting into tears at any moment. Lily wasn't paying any attention to where she was going anymore. She wound up on the third floor. She turned and pushed the first door she saw open. It was heavy and loud. It squeaked when it open. "Remus!" she mimicked the door as it opened. She wasn't expecting to see her friend in the....wherever she was. She looked around. She was in the trophy room?

DONT WANNA HEAR YOUR SAD SONG DON'T WANNA FEEL YOUR PAIN Not too long ago, Lily had heard the truth about her mother's childhood. It was not a pleasant thing whatsoever. It made Lily extremely grateful for her sheltered childhood. It made her life a lot simpler when she was little, but now that she was older, things were different. Things were the farthest things from safe now. The Dark Lord was running around killing muggles and wizards alike. No one was safe anymore. The only ones that may have been were those pureblooded followers of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Lily was neither a pureblood or a Death Eater supporter, so sadly, she had no chance if things got worse. She tried not to think about that, but the thought slipped into her mind every now and then.
Lily was not sure why she had started thinking about these sort of things, but she had. She thought it was because she was graduating at the end of the year and would not be at Hogwarts next September. It was going to be a big change definitely. She could hope she'd get over it though. Maybe something outside of the school was going to make her life worth living. Hogwarts was a sanctuary for many students, herself included. Stepping out of her comfort zone to a dangerous world was going to be a frightening change.
Remus had looked like he was in the middle of something. She did not get a good look at them, but at first glance, she thought they had been Rorschachs, but then she had realized: Why would Remus be looking at ink-blots? She was not going to dwell on them all, seeing as they really were none of her business. "How are things, Remus?" Strangely, she had not spoken to Remus much since the school year had started. The two had been prefects together up until Lily was moved up to Head Girl. She considered them to be friends, but they had drifted apart a bit.

Remus hadn't been talking to anyone really besides Frank Longbottom. He didn't want to talk to anyone much but talking to Frank was coming easily. It wasn't so much talking but sharing a pain neither really knew the details of. He couldn't tell Frank the extent of it and as a result Frank couldn't share the extent of his. To get you had to give and Remus couldn't give everything. He would have to figure out Remus's secret all on his own because the werewolf himself wasn't going to blurt it out with tears or fear. He didn't know how to talk to the rest of his friends. Perhaps he was frightened they would talk him into something, out of something, or confirm his thoughts. Remus was sure he had missed his Prefects round. Perhaps that was why Lily had come calling. He wasn't bothering with his duties but no one had said anything to him. No Professor had come up to him and asked him what he was playing at. No Professor had inquired as so how he was doing or that they were 'very sorry' for his 'loss'. She was dead and he had to deal with it. There was no use beating around the bush using euphemisms as though that would make everything better. Remus wasn't sure he wanted to talk to anyone and he wasn't sure he didn't. Death was such a harsh subject. It hurt. Remus's glorious sanctuary had crumbled at the seems. The bricks and mortar were wearing a way faster than water tumbled through a river. The massive halls and corridors were cold and draughty, whipping wind through his bones and made them chatter. He was alone in a big world where everyone was being picked off one by one or in droves. He was in constant pain. He sighed to himself. He always had a penchant for being quietly dramatic. He really had to stop that. He was isolating himself from his friends and part of him didn't know why. Why was he doing that when his connection to the world was what kept him alive? He needed people around him. Social contact fed Remus like food and water and kept him sane. He couldn't survive alone. Remus didn't jump out of his skin like one would expect when someone suddenly entered the room. He knew she was coming. He could hear people coming better and further than the rest of them. He found that part very useful. He found it to be one of the best traits lycanthropy had given him. "Been better. And yourself?" Remus asked. In his rush to hid the multitude of drawings, a warped picture drifted towards Lily onto the floor dragging the one of Sirius with it. Remus's heart stilled.[/blockquote][/ul]

DONT WANNA HEAR YOUR SAD SONG DON'T WANNA FEEL YOUR PAIN Lily had tried opening up to more people in the school, considering she was going to graduate soon. That plan did not exactly work. Actually, it had failed miserably. Maybe it was her, maybe it was other people - she did not know. What she did know was that she ended up not making friends at all. It was a bit of a bust. People would find out she was Muggleborn - as if they already did not know - and treat her badly and/or talk down to her. Lily was not one who liked that happening to her, so she did not tolerate it. Leaving immediately, she decided to not step out of her comfort zone when it came to other people at Hogwarts. She had already found her right circle of friends by now, and she was going to stick with it.
It would have seemed like Death was hitting her friends' lives a lot this year. This worried her. Was this a pattern? James's mother had died before the school year started; she was sure that she absolutely, positively did NOT want the same future for her parents. She had no idea what she would do if they had both passed on. Would she be free to live on her own? Would they shove her to live with Petunia, the horse? Would she even reside in the Muggle world? All these questions were ones she did not want an answer to right now.
A small shrug exerted from Lily's shoulders and actions. "I'm alright." she told the prefect. She had some suspicions about the boy (partially implanted into her mind about whether or not the male was a werewolf; these ideas were planted into her mind by one ex-best friend of hers, Severus Snape). She would be lying if she said the thought had not passed her mind at some point before. However, unlike the Slytherin, Lily was not going to be abrupt and confront him about it. She was sure it was not fun and pleasurable being a lycanthrope. If Remus wanted to tell her, he'd tell her on his own time.
A piece of paper slid over by Lily. She crouched down into a tuck and grabbed it. Her eyes scanned it quickly, though not enough to clearly tell what it was of. It wasn't any of her business, so she bit her curiosity back and handed it back over to him. "Here," her hand stuck out, offering the picture back to its rightful owner.

Remus replied. Lily was a sweet girl but he didn't want to talk about it. She didn't know, Frank didn't know, the others were too close - or it concerned them. An Awkward silence stretched between them and Remus shifted uncomfortably.[/blockquote][/ul] NOTES: You were supposed to notice the pictures properly!
