( PERSONALITY ) : Nora is a sweet and welcoming girl, and makes new acquaintances and friends very easily due to a warm, inviting personality and a smile which appears to never fade. She isn’t overly extroverted, though, and does need time to herself every so often. She does have a sarcastic streak at times as well and a subconscious tendency to act like she knows better than everyone else, carrying herself with a confident poise and know-it-all attitude. Fortunately, apologizing when it does turn out she is wrong is not too difficult for her, and she will happily be the first to admit that she has made a mistake. Should she get angry, it will not last for long, maybe only a few minutes or hours, and her mood will abruptly shift back into its general bubbly and cheerful state.

She has a bright outlook on life, and as she is a dreamer at heart, she is usually the girl who can find a silver lining in every situation and refuses to allow too much negativity into her life. Unfortunately, this also means she is usually less than serious and spend too much time just thinking or reflecting, which is a good trait when she wants to have fun and not so wonderful when people want her to be serious. She is very observant, though, and does know how to read and understand people’s feelings quite well, but most of the time, she doesn’t bring up serious topics because she wouldn’t appreciate anyone prying in her personal life. The exception to this is close friends, as she is not at all afraid to tell them what she thinks they ought to do and how they should deal with their problems. Ironically, she does not tolerate anyone telling her what to do and isn’t very good at taking advice at all.

Neither is she particularly self-confident, and although she does her best to appear tough and independent, she has little confidence in her own abilities and is honestly quite insecure. She is also known to go through periods of depression during which she is the opposite of her usual friendly and outgoing self. As fond as socializing as she is on good days, however, she does not trust easily and keeps her secrets to herself unless she is dealing with someone who has actually earned her trust. Simply cutting people out of her life is something she has been known to do before. As long as someone is important to her, however, her loyalty to them overshadows all else, and she will do virtually anything for them.

She is also rather ditzy and frequently says silly things without really thinking about it, making her seem not too bright. Her attention to detail isn’t great either, and she tends to forget things like names, dates and when she’s supposed to show up for things. She is capable of laughing at this, sure, but the self-deprecating humor she so often uses as a form of defense only serves to lower her self-esteem further. Although she isn’t actually stupid, she lacks the motivation to work hard enough to achieve anything more than what she does. Her relatively short attention span probably doesn’t help this either; it takes very little for her to be distracted, and paying attention to anything she finds boring is nearly impossible for her.

( HISTORY ) : Eleanor Berg was born to a muggle family and was raised a muggle along with her older brother. Their younger sister Linnea, however, was always different, to the point where it was hardly surprising when she received her Hogwarts letter at the age of eleven. Fredrik Gabler, on the other hand, grew up in a magical family, and it was through Linnea that he met Eleanor at the age of 24. Despite coming from completely different worlds, the two hit it off immediately and got married after dating for about a year. A few years later, they had Nora and things were going quite well. A son, Mathias, was born four years later, and it seemed the family was complete.

As the years went by, however, it became easy to see that one half of the couple working in the wizarding world and the other in the muggle world was not going to work. Although they tried, the relationship became too strained to function, and they split up when Nora was six years old. Being a child, she didn’t understand much of this, but she understood enough to realize that she should be sad – and she was, too. Eleanor was granted primary custody of the children and they only saw their father every other weekend, but despite their difficulties, Eleanor and Fredrik remained on friendly terms for the sake of their children.

Nora received her Hogwarts letter the year she turned eleven, and because of this, she stayed with her father that summer to buy school supplies and get to understand the magical world a little better before being sent off into it on her own. She didn’t understand everything as she went off on the Hogwarts Express, of course, but who can understand everything about the magical world anyway? She was sorted into Gryffindor and adapted to life at Hogwarts quite quickly, but the first year, she also spent a lot of time missing her family. Fortunately, sending owls and such was possible and she made quite a few friends, but she was still quite happy to return home at the end of the school year.

That summer, her mother married Ernest Stone, her boyfriend of two years, and the whole family attended – even Fredrik, as a kind of final statement about him and Eleanor truly being over and them both being okay with just being friends now. It was a joyous occasion, and the rest of the summer passed quickly. Returning to Hogwarts actually felt better that autumn because she knew her family was going to be happy, and therefore, she became more social and friendly. Her third year passed ridiculously quickly as well, and during the summer after, Markus received his Hogwarts letter and came with her to school in September. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, and all was well.

In Nora’s fifth year, she had her OWLs and they didn’t go too well, mostly because she didn’t care too much about her classes. She didn’t actually fail any, but it certainly wasn’t far off for some of them either. Now in her sixth year, she has vowed to try to do better, but the chances of that happening are really quite slim because she isn’t really all that motivated. She is far more interested in friends, boys and having fun while she’s still young. After all, you only live once.
