However, she is not so similar to most girls who are described as ‘perky’. She is quite clever, perceptive to the world around her. She has a knack for analyzing those around her and being completely correct in her hypotheses. Completely enthralled by the lives of those around her, she is a closet gossip, a silent collector of any and all information. Another important trait of hers is her ability to coax others into providing information to her; however, Rita doesn’t let her guard down easily. She has a wide variety of friends, but many of them know little to nothing about the girl. True, they may know her extensive love of fashion and the next cute boy to walk by, but they know little of her fears, dreams, and aspirations.

( HISTORY ) : An only child, she was spoiled from birth by her parents, two people who came from the richer end of the magical community. Her parents met at Witch Weekly: her father was editor-in-chief, and her mother was a model. Her father still keeps up at the magazine, but her mother ‘retired’ to be the classic housewife once she was pregnant. Rita was doted on, and her mother always tried to please her little baby girl. Victoria treated her daughter almost like a doll; she was a very young mother, and didn’t know any better. She would dress Rita up, do her hair, and take her out to formal events. Rita learned a life of luxury, and was allowed to run as wild as she pleased, her father continually absent from her life.

When it came time for Hogwarts, Rita experienced something of a reality check. She learned the importance of blending in as well as standing out. She also learned that people trusted each other quite easily. A Ravenclaw at heart, Rita was clever. She knew that divulging information was not her strong suite, rather it was getting information out of other people. By her third year, she was the most informed witch in the school, knowing the ins and outs of everyones personal lives, from first years to seventh years, even! She got along well enough with everyone, very careful about who she told what- she didn’t want to get on anyone’s bad side.

She made many close friends, and even more acquaintances, from Gryffindors to Slytherins, youthful to older. She was a wonderful networking device, loving to set up friends on dates for coffee or studying. She considered herself somewhat of a matchmaker, or even someone who introduced people merely to make friends. She loved attending parties and knowing everyone in the room. However, very few people knew the real Rita. She refuses to let her guard down for anyone. She hasn’t yet found that friend or lover that she’s ready to spill her heart to. Currently, she’s happy to simply be riding around on life’s wing, carefree.

In her sixth year, Rita decided to cause a little trouble, as was in her nature. She started to publish gossip newsletters, full of bits of information as to who was snogging who and who was talking about who, etc. However, she printed them secretly, and published them under the pen name “The Beetle”. The reason for this was quite simple. In the summer before her sixth year, Rita had become an animagus. It had taken her entire summer pouring over books, but it had been worth it. Her new form, a beetle, was excellent for collecting information, and fulfilled her cravings to be in the know. These newsletters caused quite a stir, and she hasn’t yet decided whether or not she’ll continue publishing them in her seventh year. Only time will tell.
