THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE BREAKDOWNS( • M E M O R I E S M Y G O D T H E S E M E M O R I E S • )The fact that the Defense of Dark Arts Professor kept changing every year was something of an annoyance to Crispin. He was of the opinion that he usually got along with them rather well, despite him being in Slytherin. Some Professors weren’t fond of those from his house, with obvious and good reasons. Being on good relations with the Professor of that particular subject meant that he could get books from the restricted section of the library. And since he had yet to have any classes with the new Professor, he was not able to get the book that he wanted. Crispin tried to keep the scowl off his face, to little avail. It was not the fault of the librarian, that was for sure. If Crispin was the type to forge a signature, he just might do so.
Settling down at an empty table, the male took several deep breaths before taking out the Potions book. Slughorn played favourites and he wasn’t one of them. True, his father worked at Gringotts Bank and dealt with security issues. But Crispin didn’t see how that helped him in his studies. Most certainly not in his Potions class. He didn’t think his father even got a passing grade for his Potions in OWLS. It was too early for some to start studying for the sake of studying, but for the Slytherin, it wasn’t. This being his last year here, Crispin was rather determined to do well. He knew what he wanted to be after Hogwarts, and it wasn’t something he could get into with just average grades.
Being a hit-wizard had its perks. He would get his own bed at Saint Mungo’s. Crispin smiled faintly at that thought, opening his book and flipping through it. Potion brewing was not his strength, but practising made perfect. First, he had to memorise the ingredients and the various methods of making the potion. The library was a perfect place to do that. The Slytherin dorm was quiet at times, but one never knew when someone could stomp in and declare war against Mudbloods and blood traitors.

THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE BREAKDOWNS( • M E M O R I E S M Y G O D T H E S E M E M O R I E S • )Crispin wasn't too bothered with the whole blood purity thing. Frankly, he thought it to be rather nonsensical. Wizards marrying only those of pure blood would only result in crazy demented people. He was quite sure of that. It was inbreeding. Nothing good came out of that. It was the case with creatures; the same result came out for human beings. Though with humans, Crispin would have thought they were smarter. Apparently not. But still, the Slytherin kept his thoughts to himself. No point putting his entire family at risk because of what he thought. Crispin knew his mother was entirely neutral about the whole war that was going on. His father? Crispin wasn't too sure. He was lucky if he got a letter from the old man.
The male breathed out deeply, flipping the pages of his book, searching for the potion he had to memorize. If only he had one of those genius minds. Warringtons weren't exactly the studying type, his father had told him that once. Then again, the old man was more of a brawny person. At first glance anyway. His gaze remained on his book before his attention was diverted by a whispered question. Crispin looked up and thoughts of his father immediately disappeared. Surely when faced with such a lovely looking lady as Isabella Selwyn, thoughts of anyone’s father would disappear. “Not at all, take a seat.” Crispin replied quietly, indicating the seat opposite him with his hand. At least his mother had taught him to be a gentleman.
Not to mention, Isabella was very easy on the eyes. And blonde. He had a liking for blondes. His mother was a blonde. The Warrington men had a type too, considering the pictures he’d seen from previous generations. Pureblooded blonde Ravenclaw or Slytherin girls. Crispin remained silent though. He could initiate a conversation just fine but from his experience, people came to the library for quiet and not to have a conversation with an almost complete stranger. Of course he knew her, by name and because she was a Prefect. Did he mention she was rather beautiful?
