October. Annoying, sad, cold month. It was darn cold all the time. It was like the end of winter, only more windy. And if there was one thing you couldn't stand as a professional quidditch player it was too much wind. Today was Luke's day off though and even though he was a celebrity he found it too attractive to resist - visiting Hogsmeade that was. He liked it there - had always been a faithful costumer to a lot of the shops and who didn't liked a butterbeer occasionally? He also wanted to visit Hogsmeade today because of something quite else. Something he found it hard to talk about, but never the less.. It was true. Luke had found himself a "friend." Well, yeah. That was all she was for now. Lacey Straiton. She was a year younger than him and was awfully nice. And she had this adorable little son, Nate, that he instantly befriended. It was great because Luke liked kids.
Now Luke had just apparated and landed on the doorstep of The Three Broomsticks. For a second he considered going in there and buy a butterbeer, but he knew how much drama that would end out with. Screaming fangirls wanting to have an autograph, journalists from The Daily Prophet and so on, and quite honestly he wasn't in that mood. He knew that Lacey Straiton had a sweet shop here in Hogsmeade, so he decided to take a look at it. And maybe talk to her and her son. As he headed away from The Three Broomsticks he took a deep breath and sniffled. Something smelled divine and it wasn't butterbeer. He rounded a corner and saw Lacey stand there and making sweets. It was such an adorable sight that he had to smile. Then all of sudden her son came running to him. Luke picked him up and laughed. "Hey buddy! How's my homeboy doing?" Luke asked with a smile and looked at the little boy.
This little boy and his mother made Luke forget that the world was cruel and evil and cold. They could light any day for him. Even though he had only known Lacey for about two months and Nathan even shorter. But it had been a while since he had had a girl in his life. And sure, he had friends on the quidditch team, but only one true good friend. Rest of them was a bunch of fakes. But he never told anyone. He never told anyone that he hadn't talked to his father since his 18th birthday. It was his business and not anyone else's. He finally saw Lacey and sat Nathan down. A smile came across his lips. "Hey Lacey. It looks great all of this!" He said with an approving look on his lips. But who was he to judge, really? Another more sincere and happy smile came across his lips as he looked at her.
